The Excellence Continues In This Fascinating Sci-Fi Trans Story By Gryphon In the second installment of this fascinating and superb sci-fi trans trilogy, the main protagonist Steve, who is being forcibly feminized by hormones as well as being forced to dress and live as a girl by an alien AI system controlling the space ark on which he is a passenger, learns some new and very disturbing information in terms of the true prime directives of the alien AI system. Part of those directives are that the kids need to start having physical relationships and start bearing children when they turn 16. But these revelations will pale in comparison to what Steve learns later on when it is revealed that the alien AI system has also classified him as one of a very few "special" humans with undefined "special powers" and this has a direct bearing on why the system is determined to turn him into a complete woman so that he can bear children. And as if all this wasn't enough to really distress Steve, he is also advised by the AI system of another startling and disturbing development with his body. As Steve's body continues to become more and more feminine, we get a very close and empathetic look at how this is affecting his thoughts, emotions and feelings. We also see the effects in Karen's life as well as how it now impacts the developing relationship between Steve and Karen. There is still a ray of hope however for Steve and his friend Karen, who is also being forced by the AI system to become a boy, to return to their original gender. In addition to the fact that the AI system can not perform SRS procedures on them without their express permission, the AI system has also detected a solar system with a planet that appears suitable for colonization by the few humans who survived the destruction of the earth. As the initial probes and planetary surveys indicate the planet is safe and suitable for humans, the AI system begins to awaken some of the
adults from cryostasis. The first few adults it awakens are specialists in various fields including medical, and are from the original crew of the space ark at the time it left earth. Steve soon meets one of these adults who are from the group that are grandparents of the children. So there is now a real chance he and Karen can get one of the "gramps" as they call them, to get the AI system to return them to their original genders. But will it really be that easy? We also see what happens to one of Steve's acquaintances from when he was a boy, who has always secretly wanted to be a girl instead of a boy. Charles begs Steve to go with him to talk to the AI system to see if it will possibly change him into a girl and swap him with Steve. We get a good look at Charles' inner turmoil that has driven him to make this request. Will the AI system grant his request? The author does an excellent job of letting us experience to a surprising degree what the characters are feeling and how they are being affected physically and emotionally by all these radical changes to their bodies and how it also affects their minds and egos. This is an exceptionally well written (in spite of a number of typos and childish references to bodily functions) and compelling story told in three parts, by an author who has the rare ability to not only get you into the lives of the characters but into their minds, hearts, feelings and emotions as well. Don't be surprised if you find yourself identifying with and empathizing with the various characters and the challenges they undergo. By Anthony Nestor The book takes place in the future after earth has been destroyed and humanity is searching for a new habitat. I find the relationships between the students to be moderately accurate and some of the struggles they face are common amongst kids today. Reading this book definitely makes me wish I had stronger relationships with my friends and realize more of a girl's perspective of such. If I was steve, with the friends he has made in the end of book 1 and into book 2, I would give up my hope of getting back to a boy so quickly based solely on the fact he has such great friends (sisters). So I give this book a 4 out of 5 star rating because it's entertaining although the motives of some of the students is a bit confusing. Some parts make me feel happy inside and in part, miss opportunities to reach out to my friends when I was younger in high school and thru college. Interesting concept but a weak heroien brings it down By Kage no Neko As with my previous review the biggest problem for this book is the heroine's lack of backbone. Repeatedly Steve will find himself in a situation created by his friends or enemies where he is uncomfortable. At most he puts up a token resistance then follows along, even when he decided explicitly on something else earlier. Luckily this starts to change towards the second half of the book as she becomes more assertive but it only appears in situations where she is trying to stand up for others, for herself she is still weak. The plot is steady and if you liked the premise of the previous book this one continues in that trend.
Unfortunately the other characters, like the main heroine, do not feel fully fleshed out; more like caricatures or stereotypes than real people. There is some depth and interaction but it comes off as weak. tl;dr - An interesting premise but a weak heroine makes this series a read only when you do not have something better in the queue.
