TYGER: A KYDD SEA ADVENTURE (KYDD SEA ADVENTURES) BY JULIAN STOCKWIN PDF

The latest volume in the popular high-seas nautical adventure series featuring the dashing and debonair naval commander Thomas Kydd Kydd is offered a new command but that ship is still under construction, so he decides to look up one of his old naval friends and enjoy some of the pleasures of London. This is cut short when he is summoned to Portsmouth to bear witness at the trial of Sir Home Popham for his actions at Cape Town and Buenos Aires. Kydd confides in friends his true feelings about the way his old commander was treated and, when his opinions become public, finds himself in hot water with the Admiralty. Kydd is punished for his indiscretion by being given a different command: a mutiny ship, Tyger, moored at Yarmouth. On board he faces numerous challenges from a hostile and dejected crew, still under a malign influence. It will take all of Kydd’s seamanship and leadership in voyages to the far north and in Baltic waters to turn the ship around. The measure of his success is tested in a cataclysmic battle against three Prussian frigates under the French flag. ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

By Neurovir Pedestrian sea tale with a constructed scenario, and with unconvincing and uninteresting characters. Although I have read all of this series because even with its drawbacks, it still exceeds most rivaling historical naval fiction., However, it is nowhere's near as satisfying as O'Brian, Woodman or even Forester 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Another worthy entry! By Alex J. Rose This was a worthy addition to the Kydd series. Absolutely Kydd at his finest. Having read a significant amount in this genre, this particular entry was up there as one of the best. I'm very excited to see where Mr. Stockwin takes Tom Cutlass next. If you are a fan of the series or the genre in general this is money well spent. Stockwin has a well researched understanding of the era, the events, and the Nelson era Navy and it shows as he seamlessly pulls it all together in this book. I give it my highest recommendation. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I miss Renzi. By JackinJax Since Renzi got married and moved on shore Kydd has been treading water. I miss the interaction between them and Kydd isn't a complete character without him. Like Aubrey without Maturin; not nearly as interesting. As always, though, a well written adventure.
