Resident Readiness Internal Medicine (Paperback) By p An excellent source for, review, thinking outside the box approach to a CC,in-service exams and "what not miss" ddx. Covers both inpatient and out pt clinical approach to signs and symptoms.I always looked for a book that will guide you to a DDx from chief complaint, rather than go over conditions and diseases. This book starts for a CC, to DDx, what not to miss, Dx tests and then management. A must have for especially for IM residents. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great case-based approach to hospital medicine By travelndoc This book addresses many situations encountered as a resident or new hospitalist on the medical floor. It's set up in a case-based format to help you think through a problem situation and guide you towards great care. There are pearls and tips of things to remember and best management principles. A smaller section addresses outpatient situations encountered. Most chapters have a few board-style questions at the end to assess what you've absorbed from the chapter and to drive home important points. Overall I've found it to be a wonderful and useful tool for preparation. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. This book is probably appropriate for 3rd/4th year med students, and DEFINITELY not for interns/residents. By Anonymous This book is probably appropriate for 3rd/4th year med students, and DEFINITELY not for interns/residents. For example, for the management of upper GI bleed, it doesn't even mention when to transfuse PRBCs, etc. How to treat H. pylori infection? It doesn't even tell you which antibiotics to use. Even 1st/2nd year student would know it's treated with antibiotics and PPI. It seems that authors are just lazy to present important details on how to manage certain conditions, which should be the focus of this type of book, instead of repeating the same basic algorithms that can be found in your step 1/2 book.
