Most helpful customer reviews 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. great book and great condition By Raj I purchased the book used from textbookcharlie, and I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the condition of the book. It is in great condition, although used, and it looks brand new. It also arrived much earlier than I expected. Being a high school student, I wanted something that was easy to read, had diagrams, but wasn't too dumbed down. Overall, this is a great book for beginners and early level college students. The book seems to have lots of info and engineering problems/examples. It explains ME both in a qualitative and quantitative sense, through diagrams, stories, explanations, etc. and through math problems, equations, etc. It hilights the different principles in mechanical engineering and the info is very up to date. It also uses examples from history to convey info about mechanical engineering, and engineering design, skills, etc. My only problem though was the price. I don't think the book should be as pricey as it is, but then again, all textbooks are like that. Buy it used. Overall, this is a great book for anyone looking to get a taste of mechanical engineering study, and i'd recommend it. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Ehh By John Good book and was required for my Mechanical engineering class but its price is a bit steep at a $130+ for a paperback book that I wont use as I get deeper in my studies. 4 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Not at all what I was expecting By Nathaniel Newell At the price point for this book I was expecting a university level text-book quality tome of knowledge discussing beginning to mid level mechanical engineering, with a large reference section. This doesn't come close to approaching that. It's more like a brief introduction to the kind of problems mechanical engineers solve. It's light on math, and heavy on pictures.

This book would be great at the $30 price point. See all 8 customer reviews...
