One of the best books I ever read By Amazon Customer I read this book when I was about ten years ago and it was the second book to ever make me cry. It's one of the stories that sticks with you. I feel like the main character is and old personal friend. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I thought my soul would rise and fly after reading this book By Nina Simone This book is heartfelt and genuinely inspiring. I felt really connected to the "dumb" gal, Patsy. Though she was quiet, her determination sparked in my heart. Her courage captivated me. There is nothing I could change about this book. If you like historical fiction, this book is right for you. Every character had a bright personality; I did not feel like they had any significance in the book. Though the plot is a touchy , subject still, Joyce Hansen turns it into a work of art. I recommend this book to historical fiction readers. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Summer Read! By T Jay My students read this book during my academic summer camp session and they really enjoyed it! Because it was written in diary form, it was more accessible. My students thought it was interesting and especially enjoyed the pictures. As an educator, I appreciated the historical references that this book offered. I would recommend this book to 4th-6th grade students. See all 13 customer reviews...
