However, I just realized that the book itself is missing all materials at the beginning, including the page with copyright date. Instead, the first few

pages are advertisements for this book and others by the same publisher. I noticed several rectangles on the book's cover that were carved away with a knife and covered with tape. My guess is that this book was a promotional copy or instructor's copy and the words "not for resale" were removed.
