Excellent historical and survival resource By Jeffrey Wade This is an English-language translation of the original (27 December 1941) pocket-sized 1941 Soviet instruction manual printed for Soviet Partisans. Filled with copies of the original 1941 illustrations, this book is clear, concise, insightful and easy-to-read. A literal How-To book of Partisan covert ops, with chapters on tactics, weapons, hand-to-hand combat, tank destruction, sapper work, patrolling, reconnaissance, camouflage, land navigation, first aid, winter survival, fighting on skis and preservation of food. Each of these chapters has a wealth of valuable and insightful sub-topics. For instance, the chapter on patrolling includes entries for foot wrapping, putees, eating on the move, crossing rivers and swamps, starting a fire without matches, etc. The book even addresses how to sneeze so you will not give away your position. Not only an excellent survival resource, this book is also an outstanding historical references showing the mindset and techniques of Soviet okruzhentsy, escaped POWs and brave Soviet civilians who took up arms to fight the occupying German forces in WWII. It is also an invaluable tool for Soviet Partisan Reenactors, which is a relatively unexplored field of military reenacting.

Get in touch with your inner partisan By Smurf I've enjoyed studying military history, especially unconvential warfare, since I was a kid. I saw this advertised in the Paladin Press and it piqued my curiosity so I looked it up on Amazon (at a lower price). Although some of the techniques illustrated were a bit dated it is nevertheless an interesting insight into the Soviet mindset regarding guerrilla warfare during World War II. Boobytraps, disrupting enemy communications, improvised pyrotechnics, first aid, camoflage, tactics, and much more are here clearly illustrated page after page, kind of like an instructional comic book for freedom fighters.
