I'm a big Mistborn fan, and I loved the dynamics of the system and how it works. For me (as the Dungeon Master, or the "Narrator" as the book calls it), a game like this which focuses on making in-depth characters and has a stronger storytelling system over another table-top like Dungeons and Dragons is more appealing to me, and much less of a burden on my shoulders as I love to write stories. I recommend this book to anyone who's been itching to play a Mistborn adventure. Everything you need to know--even if you haven't read the books or played a table-top RPG before--about Mistborn and Role-playing is there. The adventure book is divided into three sub-books within the rulebook. The first two are for the players, and all three are for the narrator. Brandon Sanderson, the writer of the Msitborn series, had a hand in writing this book and leaves notes all over the place for players and narrators alike to handle some situations better and to clarify some parts of the system; not to mention good advice, too.

By Timothy May I picked this up at Gencon this year after playing in a Mistborn game. The game was a lot of fun, and really captured the feel of the novels, so I was expecting a great game and cool mechanics, but what I wasn't expecting was such a large amount of background and world information. This book is a great read even if you have no intention of ever playing the game(which you should, cause it's great) because it has a ton of cool info that's not in the novels. There's a lot of cool art, although it's all black and white, tons of examples, lots of story hooks and lots of pre-generated characters. On top of all that, there's a short story written by Brandon Sanderson in the front of the book, and a very long, meaty adventure in the back. This book is a great read, and a great value. By Marcelo Neves The book manages to really capture the essence of the novel's themes and worldbuilding. The game is build to be fuid, focusing on creating intense stories and involving the players. The mechanics are very solid, with mainly simple rules, yet complexity can be added to the mix if necessary. The magic system - the element of the novels that makes them so great for a roleplaying game setting - is very well portraied and extensively detailed. The only flaw, in my opinion, are the "trait" system, that sometimes feels vague: basically any characteristic attributed to your character can be a trait, the guidelines are very loose. That is not inherently bad, I just prefer games with stricter rules about what can meaningfully affect gameplay. Great purchase! See all 11 customer reviews...
