Great Review Book for NP certification. Covers health conditions per gender, systems, and special populations (men & women; pediatric, pregnancy, lactation). Short summations of of health issues in bulleted form per order of description, etiologies, incidence, risk factors, assessment, DDx, diagnostic tests, non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic management (clear & easy to follow tables), when to refer, F/U, and possible complications. Great Book! By Pam Ordered this book during my first semester clinical class. It was a life saver! There is a lot of useful tips and information in this book for a new practitioner or student. Out of all my books required for clinicals, this was probably my favorite. One of the many things that was very helpful for me as a student was the ability to take the patients symptoms that you collect during your physical exam and look up the problem under the "system" (such as neuro or musculoskeletol)...the book list the top differential diagnosis along with the suggested treatment. If the treatment listed is a certain medication, it will list the drug, dosage, etc. It was just like having epocrates but much cheaper and right at my fingertips.
