LOTTERY PROCEDURE

Starting School year 2017-18 Lottery Procedure: Grade 8 students going into Grade 9. Requests for assignment to Oyster River must be submitted to SAU 74 (attention of the Superintendent) the year prior to the requested enrollment. There will be a form posted on the website. No requests will be accepted prior to September 15 or after March 1. • Requests must be submitted in writing by parent(s) or legal guardians • Documentation of Barrington residency as required under state statute must accompany the requests. • The written request must indicate if the grade 8 student has siblings currently enrolled through this policy in grade 9,10, or 11. Siblings will be defined as biological, adoptive, step- siblings living in the same house in Barrington. Procedure: 1. Administrators will review each request to determine its adherence to established guidelines and the Oyster River/ Barrington agreement. 2. Of the requests received, students with siblings currently attending Oyster River High School in grades 9, 10, or 11 will be selected in the first group. The remaining students will be in the second group and will be randomly selected at a posted School Board meeting to fill available openings. * The names will be drawn at the first Board meeting in March. 3. Any student in Grades 10, 11, 12 requesting a transfer must contact the SAU to setup a meeting with the Superintendent. In the event there are spots available in Grades 10, 11, 12 the same lottery system will be established. 4. Once the predetermined number of openings is filled, student names will be drawn to determine the order of the wait list. They will only be accepted if and when space becomes available.
