Our new Executive Director will steer a seasoned team in the advancement of our mission to promote the public value of public education and pursue the success of every public school by sharing knowledge, bridging communities, and informing policy. Life at PPS-SF Since 1999,​ ​Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco​ (PPS-SF) has helped over 275,000 families navigate SFUSD enrollment and become leaders in their schools, building a parent community dedicated to the success of each child in every family. We are a small but mighty team, hosting workshops and events in Spanish, Chinese, and English from bridge to bridge, across our diverse city. The ideal candidate will have the passion, knowledge, and skills to lead Parents for Public Schools of San Francisco (PPS-SF) through the implementation of a strategic plan that centers on: asserting the public value of public education; serving as a bridge between families, schools, and the San Francisco Unified School District; and supporting families’ capacity to advocate for their needs. Experience in non-profit leadership, communications, and/or organizational development will be valuable. Reporting Relationships The Executive Director reports to the PPS-SF Board of Directors. Direct reports include a dedicated, diverse, and close-knit team of administrative and program staff, in addition to independent consultants and contractors. Key Responsibilities The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of PPS-SF, which includes managing day-to-day operations and staff, fund development, board development and relations, and representing the organization with a full range of influential stakeholders in the public, non-profit, corporate, and foundation sectors. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

Enhance organizational vision, values, and mission Direct overall operations including fiscal, administrative, and legal oversight and controls Establish annual budgets Hire and supervise staff and consultants Generate and implement fund development strategies and activities Direct program development, ensuring programs align with organizational objectives Develop and maintain strong, positive working relationship with the Board of Directors and work in collaboration on strategy, governance, and growth Cultivate relationships with government, corporate, and foundation resources, resulting in increased fundraising outcomes and sustainability strategies Develop and advocate for policy solutions to provide a world-class education to all San Francisco public school students Communicate widely across external constituencies, gaining credibility as a convener, collaborator, and thought leader Oversee all external communications and media strategy

Qualifications The successful candidate will have the experience and capability to lead a small but mighty non-profit organization and will possess a successful track record in: ● ●

Fundraising: Strong, successful fundraising experience including proposal/grant writing and donor cultivation Budget Development and Oversight: Ability to bring fresh eyes to existing work, streamlining where possible and investing where we can best leverage our growing but limited resources Managing People and Resources: Excellent human and financial management skills and a working knowledge of relevant disciplines (i.e., administration, finance and budgeting, human resources, and general management) based on serving as a top executive officer in an organization Program Design and Development: Track record of creatively planning, initiating, and adapting programs that deliver excellent results and long-term impacts Network Development: Experience working in and building coalitions External Relations: Experience cultivating and sustaining constructive relationships and strategic partnerships with community and other key stakeholders, particularly in the areas of public policy Cultural Competence: Successful track record and experience working on a variety of issues facing public school families from all socioeconomic backgrounds Other Preferred Experience and Abilities: ○ Bilingual in English, plus Spanish or Chinese ○ San Francisco public school parent or working knowledge and experience of the SFUSD (3-5 years)
