PLYMOUTH REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Career and Technical Center Renovations

Plymouth Regional High School Career and Technical Center Renovations Plymouth Regional High School seeks your vote at town meeting in March of 2017, to approve the 75% STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE FUNDED renovations to the School’s Career and Technical Center. Built in 1982, the Center has not been renovated or expanded in more than 30 years and yet must handle the critically important task of providing educational opportunities for students to explore and develop the skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing modern work force. In support of this mission, the Center provides opportunities and guidance for students to excel through secondary education, apprenticeships and jobs. With your support, the proposed renovations will reshape, revitalize and provide an exceptional learning environment for our students over the next 30 years. Career and Technical Center Programs Include: Automotive Technology, Health Science Technology, Digital Media, Culinary Arts, Marketing Education and Drafting Technology

Career and Technical Education Mission: To promote Career and Technical Education as a total educational philosophy, which will ensure that every citizen of New Hampshire graduates from high school ready and prepared for higher education and the world of work.

PRHS Renovations Include: Special Education*, Art and Media Lab*, Administration and Facilities* *Renovations to these facilities provides greater student safety, access to specialized education and accommodates CTC renovations Key Project Elements: • 75% STATE FUNDED • Classroom and Lab integration • New state-of-the-art digital medial classroom with recording studio • Expanded automotive facilities with attached classroom • Six (6) automotive lifts with exhaust ventilation system • Integrated drafting and technology classroom • Student work and collaboration space within each program • Daylighting in health science classroom • New energy efficient CTC exterior walls – eliminating 30-year-old failed glass walls • Energy efficient and code compliant culinary kitchen • Strategically located administration offices to aid in building security and safety • New ventilation and lighting throughout entire CTC • Facility design for the next 30 years of career and technical education • Code compliant egress stairs and ADA restrooms Schedule: To limit classroom disruption, the design and construction team will work over the next year to plan and detail the building renovations. Construction will begin during Spring break 2018 and be completed in August 2018 for the fall school opening. The construction schedule has been designed to reduce the overall construction time, eliminate costly phased construction and overall classroom disruptions. Design and Engineering: 9 Months (April 2017–December 2017) • Construction: 5 months (April 2018–August 2018)

Budget: The State of New Hampshire will fund 75% of the Career and Technical Center Renovations. With limited education funding available, the State of New Hampshire offers Career and Technical Centers a one-time subsidy every 25–30 years to assure each of the 30 centers are offering a state-of-the-art education. One of the last of 30 centers in the entire State to take advantage of the state aid, SAU 48 will pay for only 25% of all CTC renovations. Renovations to the Special EducationPrograms including an expanded classroom and specialty spaces will be included in the project to accommodate a growing need. State Funding: $5.3 million • Local Contribution: $3.1 million • Total Project Cost: $8.5 million
