Camp Contraption - Workshop Descriptions Learn the basics of creating your own content to fabricate on a 3D Printer. In this workshop you will explore the use of free online software to create objects that are ready for output. You will print small samples, but the emphasis of this workshop will be learning the options available for design software.

CNC Router

CNC Routers are the workhorse of digital fabrication. Learn to create 2D and 3D objects from flat materials using free and easy-to-learn software. Get an introduction to free 2D software to build on.

One of the most versatile and precise technologies of the digital fabrication world, laser cutters are a great tool to get to know. This workshop will introduce you to the uses and operation of a lasercutter and software options for creating content. Once you learn this, it will be time to rethink all of your project ideas!

Kinetic Contraptions

In Kinetic Contraptions, you will build up to 5 contraptions that move with the help of water, cable, paddles or sun light. Dive into basic electronics, hydraulics, mechanics and more in this hands-on intro to awesome!

Action Contraptions

In Luminous Contraptions, you will build up to 5 contraptions that will light your world! Start with some basic circuits and apply them to cards, bugs, wearables and ultimately a cool lamp! Flip the switch to turn on your creativity!

In Action Contraptions you will dabble in the world of robotics - building up to 5 mini bots from everyday materials. With challenge comes reward - this workshop will provide both! Prepare to build your robot overlords!

Aerial Contraptions

In Aerial Contraptions, you will build machines that launch, hover, glide and fly! Spread your wings and take flight as we apply basic electronics to the physics of flight. Time to take to the air and leave the ground behind!

Participation in this workshop will develop the skills you'll need to be a valuable member of any Lego® robotics competitive team. Using EV3 kits and FIRST Lego® League competition tables you'll get plenty of hands-on experience in this workshop.

OK - Maybe Lego® isn't your thing? We get that too! How about Tetrix? Use real nuts and bolts and aluminum parts to construct a robot. Learn building techniques and programming to give you the skills to participate on a VEX or FIRST FTC team - or just to have fun! Got a sinking feeling? Isn't it great? Get underwater with this workshop to learn about SeaPerch robotics. We'll explore the technical and creative aspects of designing an underwater ROV and test the designs in underwater challenges. You won't need your swimsuit - the ROV should do the work for you! Cardboard Green Bay is a collaborative project already in progress between Proto and the Brown County Library. A cardboard model of downtown Green Bay is under construction in several phases. You will learn to measure, scale, cut and construct models using several traditional and digital techniques. The final phase will include laser cut models and augmented reality interaction!

In Programmable Contraptions you will add brain to braun! Learn to construct basic contraptions and write code to bring them to life using an Arduino/Raspberry Pi microcontroller.

Get your awesome ON as you build, invent dabble or tinker using the most abundant building material - cardboard! Just about anything goes as you put your creative mind together with your cutting, creasing, gluing and taping skills. Add a little bling and you have the makings of a new invention! Help! Our shop is getting cluttered with scrap wood, metal, plastic! We can't just throw it out - there is still a lot of life left in those scraps! We just need to bring it out. Do you have the creative mind that can help? We got the stuff - if you got the creativity - together, we'll make scrap contraptions - cars, robots, spaceships, monsters, animals - it's your call!
