Summary Statement: Please provide a description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process. This year when building Paradise Valley's SPP it was critical with such few number of students that we utilize their MAP data and classroom work to reflect their growth. Students will be made aware of their growth goals and be able to explain how that relates to the work they are doing in the classroom.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:

Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page.

Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school.

District administration has made a concerted effort to send site administrators to job fairs to recruit teachers at various locations including Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Nevada, among other locations. Vacant positions are posted within district throughout the state of Nevada. In addition, the District utilizes placement services at Nevada and neighboring universities. Through the collective bargaining process, an additional base compensation of $750 is provided to staff members working at Paradise Valley School to provide fiscal assistance for mileage associated with traveling to more populated locations.

2.

Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand.

Family Engagement at Paradise Valley School is approached as a K-8/Community initiative. The school community has taken an active role utilizing powerschool, newsletters, group invitations, parent night functions for general information. Family Nights consist of Open House where parents interact with Paradise Valley staff to understand the expectations for the school year and are supported through additional meetings during the Fall and Spring at Parent Teacher conferences. The Teacher and Administrator at Paradise Valley are committed to meeting with all parents and addressing their needs and their children's needs. This year to include students in the process, students will be staring a student council at this school site to support the PTO process voting on items of need for the school site and ensuring the students along with the staff voice their needs along with supporting parents with their initiatives for their children.

3.

Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).

Paradise Valley School is in such a remote rural location there are no regular services for Early Childhood. The school offers any Early Childhood students living in the community to attend special events, field trips and educational opportunities at the local events on a daily basis. The transition that takes place is from the Eighth grade year into high school and that becomes a parent decision based on location to the nearest school.

4.

Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.

There are several measures used in the rural setting to support teachers making academic decisions based on state, local and classroom assessments. Measures used are CRT (SBAC), Reading and Math Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) Fall, Winter and Spring yearly and review of previous MAP data, DRA, and classroom based assessments that vary based on each site. The main assessment to evaluate growth overtime is the MAP assessment as it paints a picture of a students growth over time once in the HCSD system.

5.

Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement efforts.

The school improvement plan is communicated by parents, teachers and staff members,. All federal, state and local services available are integrated into the plan and are part of the school improvement efforts. The school improvement plan is created to support teachers and students in growing their performance and parents provide support both at home and during school time. Parents will engage in these discussions during Parent Night and the annual Title I meetings.
