Raggy Edge Quilt Finished Size 50”square (approx)

Materials: Fabric 1 (Outer Boarder) 52” Fabric 2 (Large Light Floral) 27” Fabric 3 (Dark Floral Tone) 44” Fabric 4 (Cream Leaf/Small Flowers) 27” Fabric 5 (Coloured Leaf) 18” Fabric 6 (Green Leaf Tone)

This quilt is made using Flannel fabrics with just over ¼” seam allowance. Please note the fabric is not pre-washed. When layer cutting squares it is easier to leave the fabrics in piles of squares back to back. As this is how you will stitch them together as there is no inner wadding or final quilting with this throw. Cutting: 1. From Fabric 1 (Outer Boarder) cut into 6” strips by width of fabric (WOF) then cut 16 each 18”x6” pieces. 2. From Fabric 2 (Large Light Floral) cut 26x 6” Squares. If you again cut 6” strips then cut these down into 6” squares. From one 6” cut you will get 7 squares if you cut the strips from the selvedge edge first, ending with a single square on the fold of fabric. Leaving a few extra squares. 3. From Fabric 3 (Dark Floral Tone) cut 40x 6” squares. 4. From Fabric 4 (Cream Leaf) Cut 24 x 6” squares. 5. From Fabric 5 (Green Leaf Tone) cut 48 x 3.5” squares. 6. From Fabric 6 (Coloured Leaf) cut 48 x 3.5” squares. Sew ing the Blocks:

Using just over a ¼” seam, sew together two each of the two different fabric 3.5” squares, (remember they are back to back so you are sewing through four layers of fabric) Continue to piece all these together. Then join two of these pieces together to form a 4patch block. With the finished four patches you have the right side of fabric on both sides of the block, one side has the seam allowance and the other is the neater side.

Lay out the quilt on the floor, following diagram as instructed.

Piece the squares together working in rows, then joining these rows to form centre of quilt.

Piece together the top and bottom boarders and stitch these to outside edges.

Piece together the side boarders and stitch these to outside edges including the corner squares.

As a final reinforcement stitch 2-3 rows around the outside edge of the quilt to stop fabric from stretching.

Now you need to clip into the edges of the seams to encourage the raggy edge! I generally clip ¼” along, but don’t be too fussy the

closer the more raggy the edge. Take this slow, as you don’t want to clip into the seam! But don’t worry if you do, just re-stitch the seam. •

Now the fun part...throw the quilt into the wash with some towels and then into the dryer! This will encourage the fraying and shrinkage and give you a lovely ruffled chenille look to the edges.

Abstract. We report here the fabrication and application of an electrochemical carbon monoxide (CO) gas sensor based on the deposition of Pt nanoparticles on a screen-printed edge band ultramicroelectrode (SPUME) with Nafion as the solid polymer elec
