Recognising and nurturing teachers who make innovative use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning.

Who should enter?   

Teachers who are using ICT in ways that are ground breaking within the context of their schools Teachers who are using ICT (including cell phones, GPS, electronic whiteboards) in exciting ways Teachers who use ICT to create engaging project based learning opportunities for their learners

What are the categories?   

Innovation in Community – for projects that use ICT to benefit the community or provide a solution to a community problem Innovation in Content – for projects where educationally sound multimedia is developed, produced or shared in a creative way using ICT Innovation in Collaboration – for projects where ICT is used to enhance collaboration between cultures, areas and people to create educationally credible content or a unique learning experience

Where can I get ideas for an innovative project?  

Browse through the online Microsoft Innovation course at: http://www.school.za/innovation/index.htm Attend a face-to-face Microsoft Innovate Workshop in March 2009 if you already have good ICT skills but want some guidance on putting together an innovative entry. Write to [email protected] by 6 March 2009 to find out when and where the closest workshop to you will be taking place.

What are the prizes? 





Twenty finalists will attend the Innovative Teachers Forum at Microsoft South Africa in Bryanston, Gauteng in June 2009. This is a great networking event and an opportunity to share ideas with other innovative teachers. Winners will have an opportunity to represent South Africa at the Pan-African and/or Worldwide Microsoft Innovative Teachers Forums. A range of prizes will be awarded, including laptops, mobile phones and a SMART board with projector.
