Reddit FPL Draft Rules – Trial GW33-GW38 6 Managers in this years draft. THE BASICS 1. We will be playing DRAFT STYLE, essentially, no two managers can have the same player, you have no budget, you should only select the players who you think will earn the most points. 2. The league will be head to head (like the TV show – The League) – i.e. every team will be playing another team every gameweek, until the 38 gameweeks are over. The fixture list has already been scheduled. 3. Points will be taken from the official Fantasy Premier League Game (including bonus). We will have a league table in which 3 Points will be awarded for a win; 1 Point will be awarded for a draw. In order to win your match, you simply have to get more points than your opponent. 4. I will be taking care of scoring and league positions on Excel, you can simply click ‘preview’ on the document and it shows up phenomenally through Facebook, the point system is taken off fantasyoverlord.com, which pulls it from the official FPL site. INITIAL TEAM SELECTION 1. You will have a squad of 16 players; there is no limit on number of players from 1 team. 2 Goalkeepers 5 Defenders 5 Midfielders 3 Forwards 1 Extra Player – any position

2. The point of the extra player of any position is to make intra-position trades possible between teams i.e. trading a defender for a midfielder, or a midfielder for a striker, see trading below. 3. There will be a Snake Draft to select players, there will be no budget or prices, you may select anyone that is available. The order of the draft will be determined randomly (names out of a hat, or something equivalent). For those of you unfamiliar with a snake draft, it works as follows. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th again, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st again, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 6th again, 5th, 4th, 3rd….and so on, until each team has a squad of 16.

4. Each manager will have exactly 60 seconds to make their pick, or will be automatically skipped, until the next person has picked. You may pick players in whatever order you wish, as long as your entire squad meets the required no. of goalkeepers, defenders, mids and forwards. 5. The draft will take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes through Facebook chat.

WEEKLY TEAM SELECTION 1. Before the close of the FPL Deadline each gameweek (usually 11:30AM GMT – but it is your responsibility to check), every manager must post on the Facebook group, which 5 of their 16 player squad will be on the substitute’s bench. This way, I will know which 11 players are in your squad, and the priority of your subs. If you fail to post your sub order for the gameweek, you will score a 0 for that gameweek. For example

Manager A wrote @ 11.00AM GMT: GW33 Subs 1. Sub: Mingolet 2. Javier Hernandez 3. Rafael 4. Snograss 5. Gibbs

2. Formations allowed will be those allowed by the official Fantasy Premier League Game providing 1 goalkeeper, at least 3 defenders, at least 1 forward selected at all times. Substitutions will work accordingly, if you have 3 defenders, and 1 does not play, the highest rank substitute defender will come into play, to make up your 3 defenders, and so on. 3. There will be no selection of captains in this league.

TRANSFERS/TRADING 1. There are two ways that you can change your squad, transfers with other managers, and the free agent market. 2. The transfer deadline is 24 hours before the close of the FPL gameweek deadline. Normally, the FPL gameweek deadline closes at 11AM GMT on Saturday, this means that the transfer deadline closes 11AM GMT on Friday. 3. Transfers may not be cancelled. Once a free agent transfer has been posted, it is final, it will only be deemed void if someone outbids you for that player. If any manager is caught ‘deleting’ a trdae post from the facebook group, they will be given 0 points for that gameweek.

4. You may not ‘buy back' any player that you have released or sold in the immediately following gameweek. You must wait at least 1 gameweek to buy back any player that you have sold or released. For example, if you released John Terry in GW34, you will not be able to re-sign him until GW36. 5. You must have a valid squad with a maximum 16 players at all times, if you enter any gameweek with more than 16 players, or with an invalid squad (less than the minimum required number of goalkeeprs, defenders, midfielders, strikers), you will score 0 for that gameweek. Free Agents 1.

A manager may bid for a player on the free agent list, if no other manager bids for the same player upon closing of the FPL deadline, the manager may pick up the player for free.

For example Manager A wrote at 5:23PM: GW34 Buy Rosenoir (HUL) Release Debuchy (NEW) for 0 points. If no one else bids before the close of the deadline, then Manager A will get Rosenoir, and Debuchy will be added to the free agent list.

2. If another manager bids for the same player, then it will become auction style, and the player who is offering the most league table points, will get the player and have those points subtracted from their total league points. You can bid in intervals of 0.5 points. Remember, you only get 3 points for a win, so every point (or half-point) counts. For example Manager A wrote at 5:23PM: GW34 Buy Rosenoir (HUL) Release Debuchy (NEW) for 0 points. Manager B commented at 5:26PM: GW34 Buy Rosenoir (HUL) Release Olsson (NOR) for 0.5 points. If no one else bids before the close of the deadline, then Manager B will get Rosenoir, have 0.5 points subtracted from their league table total, and Olsson will be added to the free agent list. If you would want to prevent someone outbidding you (keep in mind they can also outbid you just seconds before the close of the deadline – not giving you a chance to increase your bid) you may start start your bid at 0.5 points, 1 point, 2 points, or however many points you like. You may also bid enough points so that you have a negative point tally on the league table.

Transfers/Loans With Other Managers 1. To propose a transfer, contact another manager and propose the trade, negotiate and discuss the trade amongst yourselves, and when the trade has been agreed, one manager post the trade and terms on the Facebook group, the other manager must comment ‘Accept’ for the trade to be active before the FPL deadline for that gameweek. Remember, once a trade is accepted, it cannot be cancelled. Furthermore, you may only recind your trade proposal before the other manager has commented with the word ‘accept’, once the other manager has accepted, the trade is final and cannot be cancelled, even if both parties request doing so. 2. You may trade 1 player in exchange for 1 player, 1 player in exchange for 1 player plus league table points, 1 player in exchange for multiple players, or any combination of players and points. For example Manager A wrote at 5:23PM: Trade between Manager A and Manager B GW34 Trade Coutinho + 3 Points in exchange for Daniel Sturridge Manger B commented @ 5:26PM: Accept/Agreed/Etc.

Manger B would then get Coutinho, lose Sturridge + have 3 points added to his league table score. Manager A would lose Coutinho, get Sturridge, + have 3 points deducted from his league table score.

3. In the case that more than 1 player is transferred for 2 players, the following would take place Manager A wrote at 5:23PM: Trade between Manager A and Manager B Trade Rooney for Lambert and Dempsey – Manager A releases Lukaku to maintain squad of 16. Manager B wrote at 5:23PM: Agreed – Manager B bids 0 points for free agent Scott Parker to maintain a squad of 16.

To understand this: Manager A trades Rooney for Manager B’s Lambert and Dempsey.

Manager A now has 17 players including Lambert and Dempsey so Manager A would now have to select one player (Lukaku) from his team to go to the Free Agent list, to have a valid squad of 16. Manager B now has Rooney but only 14 players in his squad and selects a player (Scott Parker) from the free agents to make have a valid squad of 16. He could however enter the gameweek with only a squad of 15 if he chooses to do so. The free agent that Manager B bids for cannot be the player that Manager A discarded. Manger A and Manager B must still have a minimum of 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, and 3 forwards, or will have to add/drop free agents accordingly. If a manager is out-bid for a free agent, and does not select another free agent before the close of the FPL deadline, said manager will enter the gameweek with a squad of only 15, instead of 16. 4. Managers may also loan out players to other managers. For example Manager A wrote at 5:23PM: Loan between Manager A and Manager B GW34 Loan Juan Mata until GW36 in exchange for 1 Points. Mata Returns to Manager A in GW37. Manger B commented @ 5:26PM: Accept/Agreed/Etc.

Manger B would then get Juan Mata, and have 1 point deducted from his league table points. Manager A would lose Juan Mata, and have 1 point added to his league table points. Manager A Would have Mata returning to his team in GW37, so must drop a player to ensure he has a valid 16 man squad.

Collusion This is an issue all draft style fantasy leagues face – to eliminate this issue – we have one golden rule.

All transfer/loan dealings with other managers must be to the benefit of both parties involved. For example – Manager A is competing with Manager B for the top spot in the league. Manager B plays Manager C this Gameweek. Manager A and Manager C reach an agreement – Manager A loans out a couple players for free to Manager C to ensure that he beats Manager B. This is a completely acceptable transfer, as both parties are benefiting. Manager A benefits by attempting to cause a loss to his near rival Manager B, and Manager C benefits as he has strengthened his squad to beat Manager B. If any manager feels that a certain trade does not benefit both parties – he is allowed to veto that trade and call a vote. If 50% of the league participants vote to protest the trade due to the golden rule that the trade does NOT benefit BOTH parties. It will be denied (or reversed the following gameweek).
