By :Mr. Viraj Ranade, CEO, I-Make solution 04th February 2017

Electronics and Communication Engineering Department has organized IETE Student Forum Sponsored State level One day Workshop on “Raspberry Pi” for 6th Semester students on 18thJanuary,2017.

To promote innovation and to provide, for the students, a facility, where they can develop products and test new ideas, Department of Electronics & Telecommunication regularly organizes workshop & seminar to upgrade knowledge and build advanced skills among the students. State Level One day Workshop on Raspberry pi on 04th February 2017 was organized at Guru Gobind Singh, Polytechnic, Nashik. 30 participants registered for the workshops from the polytechnics nears Nashik. All students were guided in brief about Raspberry Pi board. The sessions were for hands- on practical experience on Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables to explore computing, and to learn how to program in languages like Scratch and Python. It is capable of doing many things, we would expect a desktop computer to do, from browsing the internet and playing high-definition video, to making spread sheets, word-processing, and playing games.

Workshop Summary: Workshop was started as per the program schedule at 9.00am on 04th February 2017. This auspicious occasion was graced by the resource person Mr. Viraj Ranade, CEO I-Make Solutions, Nashik, Prof. P.S.Duggal, Prinicpal, GGSP & Prof. S. A. Kolhe, HOD Dept of E & C, GGSP Nashik. Faculty Members and Student Participants

The following topics were covered in the Hands-on workshop:   

Introduction to Linux Introduction to Raspberry-Pi Operating porting

  

Basic commands of Linux hell scripting Python programming

Students actively participated in workshop. They programmed Raspberry-Pi and performed several commands on it. Students also learnt about connecting other hardware components to Raspberry-Pi board to make more advance configuration. By attending this workshop, students obtained not only basic knowledge but also guidance about how to get advanced level of knowledge in Raspberry-Pi by self-learning. At the end of workshop, certificate were distriburted to all the participant. Two best performers were selected from all the participants.
