This shows that the magazine is targeting a niche market as it only targets people that like "black music". The skyline also features Usain Bolt showing that the magazine is not purely focused on music and branches out to an audience that enjoy sport. The variety of artists shows that although they are targeting a niche market they are making sure that everyone in that market is being targeted. This technology would draw in younger people as younger people like incorporating technology into their lives more so than older people. The QR code also adds a sense of mystery as people would want to find out where it leads you, this alone may be enough for some people to pic up a copy of the magazine if they find it interesting enough.

Features and cover lines such as "is little B your God" make direct reference to topics that only fans of Rap or lil B would understand. This shows clearly how the magazine is targeting a niche market as it's using an iside joke. Fans of rap or lil B would notice this joke and want to find out more about why it is on the front cover of a magazine which would make them want to buy the magazine.

The contents page shows an image of two rap artists. This shows that the magazine has not strayed from its rap theme however in this image it is showing the more stereotypical dress of rap artists as they are wearing dark clothing and excessive jewellery. From analysing this contents page and seeing the typical features of rap artists’ clothing we would use for the model on the front cover of our magazine. This will relate to rap fans as it is likely what they aspire to have and aspire to be. The pose that these artists are doing is common in rap and hip hop culture which would further help fans of rap to relate to these artists and the magazine. Both artists looking at the camera makes a close connection with the reader that would make the reader want to get the magazine as they feel they are being directly addressed by the artists.

The logo is shown as well as the date the edition was released however on this page the XXL logo is very small and in the strong fallow area of the page instead of the primary optical area showing that it’s not as important on the contents page as the reader already knows that they are reading an XXL magazine. The date is there to show which edition this particular contents page is from. The logo is the same colour and font as on the front page as the magazine.

The quote by Soulja Boy here is stating that without 50 Cent he wouldn’t be as successful as he is. This is anchorage text to the image of soulja Boy and 50 Cent standing back to back as it limits interpretations of the image by showing that they have each other’s backs. Fans of rap and hip hop would be able to relate to this as themes of brotherhood and friendship are deeply engrained into the rap culture. Seeing this bond between such successful may inspire young people as they would want to achieve the same. People interested in these artists or rap would want to pick up this edition as they can potentially find out how these artists have become so successful while working together.

The features of this magazine that are shown on the front cover of this magazine are here in small headers with the page numbers next to them. Each small header has small pieces of information about each feature underneath it which helps the reader to decide what they actually want to read without having to go through each page of the magazine. Each feature is about rap culture and related topics which attracts fans of rap and hip hip, making them want to read the articles and like the magazine.

The double page spread is not very colourful and follows the theme of showing these rappers in stereotypically dark clothing and excessive jewellery as the contents page did. Fans of rap can relate to this style of clothing as it is how they dress and they will feel closer to the artists as a result. In the image which covers the entire page with no text Soulja Boy is standing in front of 50 Cent wit has arms raised wide as if he is taunting those attacking them. This sort of behaviour is common in rap culture as it is important to seem powerful and able to protect yourself or your friends in rap culture. The fact that this image is given the whole page shows how important the relationship between 50 Cent and Soulja Boy is. The flagrant use of curse words by 50 Cent here is the type of language that rappers stereotypically use. This attracts rap fans is it is language that they are accustomed to and most likely language that they use. This sort of language also conveys 50 Cent as a "gangster" or "thug" which is common convention of rap magazines as that is the perception the media typically has of rappers. The bad language used by 50 Cent has been made large and capitalized as it is shocking and eye catching. This makes it more likely for someone to read what is beneath it. The bad language used is censored however as the editors understand that while their target audience likely knows the swear words the magazine is still being marketed to mostly young people. Giving the time and date that 50 Cent made his previous statements gives the reader a better idea of how the situation has developed. This is common in rap magazines as it shows the drama or tensions occurring in the rap industry. Fans of hip hop and rap would want to know about th things as they want to know more and more about the lives of the people they look up to. The article gives 50 Cent a platform to elaborate on his previous statements so that people can understand things from his point of view instead of people judging him from his initial reactions. This gives fans an opportunity to learn more about the artist as a person than they likely knew before.
