This Office is hereby disseminating the communication from the Philippine Science High School - Centra! Visayas Campus (PSHS-CVisC) inviting all public and private elementary schools to the 11th Sciences and Mathematics Quiz Bowl on February 19, 2018 at the PSHS CVisC, Argao, Cebu

The Quiz Bowl is open to Grade 5 or 6 pupils.

We are indeed very grateful for your genuine support in the regional Science and Mathematics Quiz Bowl hosted by our school in the previous years. Our partnership has further cultivated the culture of academic excellence and instilled the love for learning or appreciation of Science and Mathematics in our country. To continue inspiring elementary pupils in our region, Philippine Science High School - Central Visayas Campus will hold its 11* Science and Mathematics Quiz Bowl for Grade 5 or 6 pupils in our campus on February 19, 2018 where any interested public or private schools can join by registering online at this link: goo.gl/G85q1G on or before February 12, 2018. The elimination round and the final round will be held in the morning and afternoon respectively on the same day. Please refer to the attached schedule and guidelines. In connection to this, we would like to request your good office to invite all the schools of the 19 divisions of region VII to participate in this activity through their respective schools division superintendents by registering online at the link provided. B. The Contestants and Coaches 1. A school can register 1 Science learn, 1 Math team or both through this link goo.gl/G85q1G on or before January 29, 2018. Only registered applicants can join. Walk-in participants will not be accepted to participate in the contest. a) Science Team (2 students and 1 Science CoachV The contestants may be 2 grade 5 pupils, 2 grade 6 pupils, or 1 grade 5 and 1 grade 6 pupils. The two pupils will work individually in answering the elimination round and their scores will be added for ranking. b) Mathematics Team (2 students and 1 Mathematics Coach). The contestants may be 2 grade 5 pupils, 2 grade 6 pupils, or 1 grade 5 and 1 grade 6 pupils. The two pupils will work individually in answering the elimination round and their scores will be added for ranking 2. On the day of the contest, the contestants should wear their school uniform and school ID The elimination round will start at exactly 9:30 AM. Late contestants will not be admitted to take the test. 3. The top ten scorers for the Science Quiz and Mathematics Quiz Eliminations will be declared during the Opening Program in the afternoon. They will compete as a team and answer the computer-aided staged quiz show. C. Final Round of the Quiz Bowls 1. The topics covered are Science and Mathematics concepts in the Grade 5 and Grade 6 Curriculum. 2. The final round is a computer-aided staged quiz show consisting of easy, average and difficult rounds. Each question is worth 1, 2 and 3 points respectively. After every round, there will be one diskarte question in which the team can choose to answer or not Should a team decides to answer a diskarte question and gets the answer correctly, an additional of 1. 2 and 3 points respectively is given to the team; otherwise, the team suffers a deduction of the corresponding points for the round. Should a team decides NOT to answer a diskarte question; the team receives neither additional points or deductions. In case, there will be questions regarding the answer, the contestant can only make a protest after the answer is announced and before the next question is read The panel of judges will be the only one to decide on this matter. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable. The top 3 highest scorers after the three rounds and all diskarte questions will be declared champion, first runner UP and second runner UP respectively. They will be awarded with trophies, medals, certificates, and other prizes In case of a tie in these positrons, a dincher round will be administered with a sudden death approach The coach of the winning teams will receive certificates of recognition. Alt contestants and coaches will receive certificates of participation and certificates of appearance.
