Romans—Part 33
May 6/7, 2017 Romans 6:5-7
FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) 6:5 As Jesus was raised the victor over death, so also are we raised victorious, set free from the oppression and bondage of sin. We are no longer condemned to a life (present or eternal) void of purpose. 2) 6:5 As certain as Jesus’ resurrection followed His crucifixion, new life follows for those who die to sin. 3) Descriptions of your new spiritual life: a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26) a new spirit (Ezekiel 18:31) a new song (Psalm 40:3) a new name (Revelation 2:17) a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) 4) 6:5 Your walk is the evidence of your new life. 5) 6:6 Your new life is not a made-over, recycled life, but is completely new. 6) 6:6 What has been crucified with Jesus is our position in Adam, which was under the power of death. 7) 6:6 Your slavery under sin has already been broken by Christ; it is a thing of the past. 8) 6:6 Every maturing Christian comes to understand that the more we grow in Christ, the more we become aware of sin. 9) 6:6 If the old has passed away, then live out that reality in your life. Walk that way! 10) 6:7 Wherever there is sin you will find death. 11) 6:7 Death becomes the servant to those who follow Jesus, because it opens the way for resurrection and new life (John 11:25; Revelation 1:17-18). GREEK WORDS 6:3 Systauroō (soos-tow-ro'-o)—to impale :- crucify, crucifixion 6:5 Symphytos (soom'-foo-tos)—grown along with :- planted together 6:6 Palaios—something completely worn out and useless 6:6 Katargeō (kat-arg-eh'-o) to be (render) entirely idle (useless) :- abolish, vanish away, make void TODAY’S SONGS “God of Wonders” words and music by Marc Byrd and Steve Hindalong © 2000 Never Say Never Songs | New Spring | Meaux Mercy | Storm Boy Music “God With Us” words and music by Jason Ingram and Leslie Jordan © 2012 Integrity's Praise!
