(under the timer). In this matter, there will be a need for a supervisor to calm the contestant under the pressure. 9.2.3 Competition Room: Each contestant will be allowed in order. The venue is allowed for audience; however, taking photograph, video, recording or holding a sign are prohibited. 5. Spelling Bee Competition (2017) 1. Grade of contestant: Grade 1 – 3, 4 - 6, 7 – 9 and 10 -12 2. Category and numbers: Individual; 1 contestant for each grade/school 3. Competition regulation: 3.1 There are 2 rounds of competition. Qualifying Round: Using the given word (Total Score: 100 points) - The native speaker judge pronounces the words TWICE - To give the context of the word, the judge will use the word in a sentence and will say it TWICE. The contestants write the word on the piece of paper provided. There are a total of 20 words in the first round and each word is 5 points. The contestants whose scores is 50 points or upper will be eligible to go to the final round. Final Round: using curriculum from ministry of education B.E.2551 as following: Grade 1 – 3, 4 – 6 and 7 – 9 1) Finalist will be automatically scored 50 points individually. 2) Finalist will draw for the ordinal number. 3) The contestant will start the competition one after the other in order. The rest of contestants will wait for their turn in another room. The contestant will get a set of 5 words / 10 points each/ Total 50 points (Each word and definition is informed once. 4) Word Spelling (Timer get started after the judge inform the word and definition within 10 seconds.) Crossword 1.Grade of contestant: Grades 1-6, Grades 7 – 9 and 10 - 12 *Grades 1-6 using the crossword board for Primary (11*11) squares and others using the normal crossword board (15*15) squares 2. Rules and regulations 2.1 Competitions 2.1.1 If there are less than 6 teams, it is recommended to use the Round Robin system. For example, a maximum of 4 teams, they would meet up for 3 rounds until we find the finalist. If there are 5 teams, each round will have the bye winning team. There will be no final round as the judges’ decision is final. 2.1.2 If there are more than 7 teams, the Swiss paring method will be usedfor qualifying teams with the same score. There will be 4 games as following: 1st game 1 09.00 - 09.35 a.m. 2nd game 2 09.50 - 10.25 a.m. 3rd game 3 10.40 - 11.15 a.m. 4th game 4 12.00 - 12.35 p.m.

The final game will use the King of the Hill method of sorting the scores. The team with the highest score meets the 2ndhighest one for being the winner, the third highest meets the fourth highest for being the 2nd runner up and the final round starting at 01.00 p.m. 2.2. Rules and regulations: Based on the standard by Thailand Crossword Game A-Math Kumkom and Sudoku Association (TCA). 2.2.1 In each game the winning team will get a maximum of 2 points, in case of a draw both teams will get1 point each, and losers will get no point. 2.2.2 Final computing: scoring to be decided by the judges. 8. Sudoku 1. Grade of contestant: Only individual contestants, with a maximum 2 competitors from each school (Grade 1 – 6 will use 8*8 grid and Grade 7 – 12 will use 9*9 grid) 2. Rules and regulations 2.1 Competition process 2.1.1 Qualifying Round All contestants to solve the same puzzle, each puzzle has different point allocated to it. Full points will be given to correctly completed puzzle in allocated time and a time bonus for puzzles completed before allocated time. There will be no points for incorrect value. 2.1.2 Final Round The top five of the qualifying competitors will do the final round. 2.2 Scoring 2.2.1 Puzzle Score: If the competitors can solve the puzzle in the allocated time, each competitor will be awarded. 2.2.2 Time Bonus is an extra point for correctly completed before the allocated time. The time bonus is computed by taking the remaining time multiplied by 3 points (the decimal will be eliminated). For example, the solving time is set at 30 minutes so if the competitor completes the puzzle in 20.40 minutes, judge will score a time bonus of 9 x 3 = 27 (9 is the remaining minutes).

However, if the competitors cannot solve within the allocated time, they will get no points and no bonus. 3. 10. Science Project Work 1. Grade of contestant: Grades 1 - 6, Grades 7 – 9 and Grades10 - 12 2. Types of Competition: Team of 3 students, 1 Team/ Grade/School. It must be Mathematics Project Work displayed in English with printed reports in English 5 copies to hand the judges. Each team also needs to prepare a board as follow: 60 cm. 

Each team presents their project in English. They can use board and other prepared materials while presenting, but don’t connect to the internet. 3. Time for Competition: Key Stage Time Grade 1 - 6 5-7 minutes (±30 seconds) Grade 7 - 9 7-10 minutes (±30 seconds) Grade 10 - 12 7-10 minutes (±30 seconds)

Remark Judges will ask each team 3-5 questions regarding the projects. (The questioning will not be counted in the time limit)

11. Computer Project Work (Software) 1. Grade of contestant: Grades 1 - 6, Grades 7 – 9 and Grades10 - 12 2. Types of Competition: Team of 3 students, 1 Team/ Grade/School. 3. Process and Criteria 3.1 A project conducted last year or in the current year. 3.2 The objective to develop project is to develop Teaching Aids or for solutions by using any computer languages. 3.3 Five copies of the printed report are to be submitted to the judges on the day of competition. 3.4 Project Board displayed in English in the following standard size: 60 cm 120 cm 60 cm

Decoration for beauty or non-related materials will not affect any scores and judgment. 3.5 The project is to be presented in English. Accessories related to the project are allowed but an internet connection is NOT. 3.6 Judges will ask each team questions regarding the projects.. 4. Teacher competition 1. Teaching Innovative Technique Competition 1. Contestant Qualifications: Teachers or Co-Teachers who teach in EP/ MEP in Grade 1 – 6 and Grade 7 - 12 2. Types: Individual, 1 each school/grade 3. Innovation Types: Teaching Innovative Technique, process or media which is used to improve or develop learners in English Program or Mini English Program to learn effectively by using English for communication. It might be the completely new or partly new innovation which was practically conducted last academic year or current academic year. The presentation and report is in English only. 4. Process and Time 5 innovation printed reports in English and hand to the judges on the competition day. School competition 1. EP/MEP School Innovation 1. Contestant Qualifications: EP/ MEP school 2. Types: 1 Innovation per school 3. Innovation categories: School can choose only one innovation project from the following categories. 3.1 Learning management innovation: Techniques, Methods or Media under EP/MEP school policy for teacher using to improve students’efficiency 3.2 Innovation for learner development activities: Techniques, methods emphasizing students’ desired characteristic development created by the school or improvised. The innovation could be a whole new concept, a part of a finished project from last year or semester or this semester which has been successfully proven and developed in the past. English Printed Report and English presentation is needed. (This innovation concept must have never been in a competition or received any awards before). 4. Process and Time 5 innovation printed reports in English and hand to the judges on the competition day. Procedure and criteria of competition Tests in English proficiency in -speaking-listening-writing-reading-picture dictation 4. Distribution of scores a. English proficiency paper test in listening, reading and writing for 70 minutes for 60 points in the following Listening 20 questions 20 minutes Reading 20 questions 20 minutes Writing, 20 questions 30 minutes: grade 4-6 not less than 100 words, grade 7-9 not less than 150 words and grade 10-12 not less than 200 words b. Speaking test by interviewing (20 points); judges are: one native speaker and two Thais in the following criteria

-use of language-Problems solving-creativity c. Draw a picture from listening to a native speaker( he/she will read the story 2 times) 20 points, the competitor can take notes while listening and the competitor has 30 minutes to draw a picture from listening to the story, criteria for picture evaluation: -correct according to the story listened-amount of details in the picture 5. Awards for winner 80% or more Gold 70% or more Silver 60% or more Bronze Less than 60% receive a certificate, the decision of the judges is final

6. Judges and competition monitors 3 judges and 3 competition monitors for each level of competition The 3 judges are as follows; 1 native speaker, 1 English teacher, 1 English language specialist Notes: Judge from the same school is not eligible. Judges must be from the same level of teaching of the competitors Judges should be comprised of personnel from different education zones. Judges should give advice to the winner of the first, second and third places. Test venues: The reading skill, listening skill, writing skill, and picture dictation skill must be conducted in a sound proof room and the interview must be done in 3 different rooms, one for each level and a green room must be provided for.

7. National level competition a. The winners of the first, second and third places are eligible to enter the national level competition b.
