SAMANTHA BRYANT Samantha Bryant believes in love, magic, and unexplainable connections between people. Her favorite things are lonely beaches, untamed cliff tops, sunlight through the leaves of trees, summer rains, and children's laughter. She has lived in many places, including rural Alaska, Kansas, Kentucky, Vermont, England and Spain. She is fierce at heart, though she doesn't look it. She's a fan of Charlotte Brontë, William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, Neil Gaiman, Nicole Perlman, and Joss Whedon, among many others. She would like to be Amy Tan when she grows up, but so far it doesn't look like she'll be growing up any time soon. Samantha writes blogs, poems, essays, and novels. Mostly she writes about things that scare or worry her. It's cheaper than therapy. Someday, she hopes to make her living solely as a writer. In the meantime, she also teaches middle school Spanish, which, admittedly, is an odd choice for money-earning, especially in North Carolina. When she's not writing or teaching, Samantha enjoys time with her family, watching old movies, baking, reading, and going places. Her favorite gift is tickets (to just about anything).

TO THE FACE, BRYANT CREATES A WORLD THAT OFFERS BOTH ESCAPE FROM REALITY AND AN INSIGHT INTO VERY REAL ISSUES. BOTH LIGHT-HEARTED AND SERIOUS, THIS NOVEL REPRESENTS A GROWTH IN SUPERHERO FICTION." - David Higgins, Reviewer
What inspired you to write your first book? "The origin story behind Going Through the Change is a conversation with my husband. One evening, we were out walking the dog, one of the few ways folks like us (with two kids) can get to finish some sentences. We were talking about a recent superhero movie we had seen together and lamenting how all the heroes seem to be angst-ridden teenagers these days (even the adult ones). My husband said something like, "It's like puberty causes superpowers." I laughed and said, "With great hormones, come great power. Wait! If that’s true, menopausal women should have the corner on that market!" He laughed and told me to write it down. I did, and a series of novels was born." going through the change Going through "the change" isn't easy on any woman. Mood swings, hot flashes, hormonal imbalances, and itchy skin are par for the course. But for these four seemingly unrelated women, menopause brought changes none of them had ever anticipated—super-heroic changes. Helen discovers a spark within that reignites her fire. Jessica finds that her mood is lighter, and so is her body. Patricia always had a tough hide, but now even bullets bounce off her. Linda doesn't have trouble opening the pickle jar anymore…now that she's a man. When events throw the women together, they find out that they have more in common than they knew—one person has touched all their lives. The hunt for answers is on. "WOW...WHAT A FUN READ! AS A BUSY MOM, I APPRECIATED THE QUICK PACE AND FAST CHAPTERS. AS A FAN OF SUPER HEROES, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS FRESH TWIST ON ORDINARY PEOPLE RECEIVING EXTRAORDINARY ABILITIES AND POWERS." - Tegan Wren, author of INCONCIEVEABLE! CHANGE OF LIFE With great power comes ... great frustration. Several months after the events of Going Through the Change, retired corporate vice president (and occasional lizard-woman) Patricia O'Neill is embroiled in a search for the mad scientist who brought the “change” upon them all . Meanwhile, Flygirl Jessica Roark and gender-bending strongman Linda/Leonel Alvarez have joined a mysterious covert agency known only as The Department. They're training hard, in hopes of using their newfound powers for the greater good. Patricia thinks they're being used. Cut off from the other meno-pausal heroes, she's alone. And her search has hit a serious dead end. Then Patricia disappears, and all the clues point to a dead man. It's up to her friends and The Department to find her and bring her home.
"CHANGE OF LIFE IS A GREAT CONTINUATION OF A LIGHT AND ENTERTAINING KIND OF SUPER HERO FRANCHISE. BRYANT HAS COME UP WITH A FRESH IDEA IN A CULTURE ALREADY CROWDED WITH SUCH STORIES." -Chad, Goodreads Reviewer (
