Sample LiDAR Data Delivery Requirements LiDAR Data Delivery Requirements (see attached shapefiles for locations). The following are the specifications for the lidar data acquisition, LAS files, LAS file header information, metadata, and survey information. Please see attached shapefiles for study site locations. The vendor should coordinate with the land-owners/scientists for site access. 1. The lidar data should meet the following specifications: 1.1. Resolution of >8 pulses/m2 1.2. Minimum capability of up to 4 returns per pulse 1.3. Flight lines with 50% side-lap (or at least 150ft) 1.4. Scan angle of <30º 1.5. Vertical RMSE <15 cm 1.6. Horizontal RMSE <30 cm 1.7. Well distributed real-time kinematic points across land cover types and flight lines 1.8. Intensity data with Automatic Gain Control (AGC) correction, if needed given the sensor type, but without normalization 1.9. Raw points will be delivered in LAS v 1.2 format with all returns 2. In the LAS file, the following information are needed for each return: 2.1. X, Y, and Z coordinates 2.2. Intensity (with Automatic Gain Control correction, if needed depending on the sensor type) 2.3. Return Number 2.4. Number of Returns for given pulse 2.5. Scan Direction Flag 2.6. Edge of Flight Line 2.7. Classification 2.8. Scan Angle Rank 2.9. GPS Time (GPS Week Time and Absolute GPS Time, POSIX) 3. The LAS file header information should include the following: 3.1. Global Encoding Information 3.2. System Identifier 3.3. Generating Software 3.4. Georeferencing information (in GeoTiff Specification) 4. The vendor should also provide the following: 4.1. Complete metadata in XML (in FGDC standard) detailing data quality information (accuracy assessment), processing step, 4.2. Flight path trajectory information (SBETs) (at least X, Y, Z, time, roll, pitch, heading, velocity)

4.3. A data collection and accuracy assessment report 5. Survey/Accuracy Assessment Information should meet the following specifications: 5.1. Survey report will be provided electronically and include: locations and accuracy of all survey points, equipment used, equipment’s accuracy (assumed and manufacturer’s stated accuracy), details of mission efforts including a QA/QC assessment (summary statistics, histograms, etc), survey extent, and positional accuracy. 5.2. Survey should be spatially distributed across whole study area; or at the minimum surveys should be completed for each different terrain type (instead of concentrated in just one area of the study area).
