VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION We, the disciples of the Great Goddess have gathered together to perform SAHASRA CHANDI MAHA YAGNA under the auspices of BHASKARA PRAKASHA ASHRAM. The Ashram endeavors to bring us all together from far and near. It is our collective desire to indulge and involve in as many aspects of the great Vedic ritual that has the sole objective of bringing peace and harmony, prosperity and health to our entire community. Events of this magnitude were performed by pious Rich and generous Royals. SAHASRA CHANDI MAHA YAGNA in Mississauga is organized by all of us together which you will agree is unique by itself. The Parayanams and the Homams are performed by we, the disciples.

There are a total of 700 slokas in Sri Devi Mahatmyam, each of which is considered to be a mantra. ‘Sri Chandi Yagna’ is the homa or havan where the Goddess is propitiated with offerings made to Agni with the recitation of each of these 700 mantras. Sages, Vedic, Agamic and Tantric Scholars have unanimously declared that it is the performance of ‘Sri Chandi Yagna’ that effectively destroys evil and negative forces and quickly grants auspicious things in this life and leads to the ultimate goal of Moksha (Liberation). “Anything that exists, whatever power it possesses, is Yourself. You are the Soul of everything, Who is capable of praising You, who created all of three of us—Vishnu, myself and Shiva??” – Brahma, the Creator, to Goddess Durga. (Sri Devi Mahatmyam 1.82)
The Great Goddess Herself has declared in Sri Devi Mahatmyam that She will deliver, without doubt, from all troubles and bless with riches and happiness, those who attend and participate in Sri Chandi Yagna and listen to Her Glory being recited and bless devotees who are able to chant, listen to and remember Her glorious acts described in Devi Mahatmyam.
