Back-To-School Donations Equip Lake Geneva Students For Successful Year Lake Geneva, Oct. 13, 2016 - Students in Lake Geneva are off to a strong start thanks to the generosity of area businesses, individuals and charitable organizations. Their collective efforts to donate school supplies and organize supply drives and fundraisers provided hundreds of local children with brightly colored backpacks, lunch boxes and all the items needed to get a successful start to the school year. Lake Geneva Schools distributed all donated supplies to local families in need through a confidential and free school supply pick-up event that was organized Jolene Galvan, Dena Bonnier, Courtney Riess and Elizabeth by Badger High School student Grace of Top Hat Logistical Solutions in Lake Geneva filled a SUV volunteers, district employees and school with new backpacks and donated them to Lake Geneva Schools to distribute to students in need. Top Hat was one of the many social workers. This event enabled organizations that generously donated school supplies to give families to have new supplies without local students a strong start to the school year. having to worry about the cost. Families unable to attend the event were invited to pick up supplies at the district administration office. Julia Adams, recent Badger graduate, led an effort to raise funds for school supplies over the summer months and helped organize the supply pick-up event. She couldn’t believe the outpouring of support from area organizations and the number of items received this year. School social worker Tana Kubly agreed. “Our schools are so grateful to our community partners for everything they do to support our students,” she said. “Their donations helped many of our students and their parents feel confident and prepared for a new year of learning.” Kubly noted that having proper supplies sets a positive tone for learning. It can mean better grades, improved confidence and willingness to participate. Judging from the enthusiasm of the students who received new backpacks and supplies, the 201617 school year is going to be a great one.
