Dear​ ​Parents/Guardians​ ​and​ ​Students: The​ ​School​ ​Department​ ​ ​will​ ​be​ ​providing​ ​district-issued​ ​email​ ​accounts​ ​to​ ​students​ ​in​ ​grades​ ​6​ ​through​ ​12 over​ ​the​ ​next​ ​few​ ​weeks.​ ​Students​ ​will​ ​now​ ​have​ ​full​ ​access​ ​to​ ​both​ ​G​ ​Suite​ ​for​ ​Education​ ​through​ ​Google​ ​and Microsoft​ ​365. Providing​ ​a​ ​district-issued​ ​email​ ​account​ ​to​ ​each​ ​student​ ​is​ ​part​ ​of​ ​our​ ​efforts​ ​to​ ​foster​ ​a​ ​21st​ ​century​ ​learning environment.​ ​Email​ ​is​ ​a​ ​valuable​ ​communication​ ​tool​ ​in​ ​today’s​ ​world.​ ​We​ ​believe​ ​that​ ​learning​ ​how​ ​to​ ​use​ ​and maintain​ ​a​ ​professional​ ​email​ ​account​ ​is​ ​necessary​ ​for​ ​succeeding​ ​in​ ​college​ ​and​ ​in​ ​the​ ​workforce.​ ​By providing​ ​a​ ​district-issued​ ​email​ ​account​ ​to​ ​each​ ​student,​ ​we​ ​are​ ​not​ ​only​ ​opening​ ​the​ ​opportunity​ ​for​ ​our students​ ​to​ ​practice​ ​the​ ​appropriate​ ​use​ ​of​ ​professional​ ​email,​ ​but​ ​we​ ​are​ ​giving​ ​them​ ​a​ ​tool​ ​with​ ​immediate use​ ​in​ ​their​ ​academic​ ​life.

Administrators,​ ​teachers,​ ​network​ ​and/or​ ​site​ ​administrators​ ​may​ ​review​ ​any​ ​files​ ​and communications​ ​to​ ​maintain​ ​system​ ​integrity​ ​and​ ​ensure​ ​that​ ​students​ ​are​ ​using​ ​the​ ​system responsibly.​ ​All​ ​student​ ​email​ ​is​ ​archived​ ​in​ ​accordance​ ​with​ ​Federal​ ​regulation. 3. Files​ ​and​ ​any​ ​other​ ​information​ ​or​ ​communication​ ​stored​ ​on​ ​any​ ​electronic​ ​equipment​ ​owned​ ​or operated​ ​by​ ​Scituate​ ​Schools​ ​are​ ​not​ ​private​ ​and​ ​will​ ​not​ ​be​ ​maintained​ ​indefinitely. 4. Failure​ ​to​ ​abide​ ​by​ ​the​ ​terms​ ​of​ ​this​ ​agreement​ ​may​ ​result​ ​in​ ​disciplinary​ ​action​ ​up​ ​to​ ​criminal prosecution​ ​by​ ​government​ ​authorities.
