MUNSW | Crisis+ 2017 - Secretariat Applications MUNSW has developed out of last year’s UNSW Crisis Competition and will be held at UNSW over the Mid-Semester Break of Semester 1, 2017. The aim for MUNSW is to hold an expanded crisis competition, innovative in its content, structure and delegate experience. In its content, MUNSW will be focused on Resource Conflict in the Caspian Sea Basin, a region with overlapping ethnic and religious issues, post-Soviet authoritarian states, frozen conflict, and the intersecting interests of almost every global power, including the US, Russia and China. Structurally, delegates will be asked to deal with the crisis in interacting committees and cabinets, a degree of complexity made possible by the inclusion of a Panel of Directors - in which academics and experts (such as International Studies convenor, Associate Professor Anne Bartlett) will participate. In terms of delegate experience, MUNSW will see reforms in both welfare, with the introduction of a Unified Welfare Policy, and awards, with an overhaul of the awards system to make it fairer and less divisive. However, MUNSW won’t just be innovation for innovation’s sake. The challenges of organising MUNSW will enrich the MUN world by raising its standard, enrich UNSW by preparing it to hold bigger and better conferences in the future, and enrich you by building your experience and skills. This will be a unique experience; there's currently no event like this in Australia. I encourage you all to take part as a member of the Secretariat, director or delegate. Applications for the MUNSW Secretariat are open now online. Please find the position descriptions below. Ben Nicols - Secretary General, MUNSW | Crisis Director
