SHS Weekly Newsletter #23 Lock-Down Drills The Sherwood School District will participate in lock-down drills at all seven school buildings between February 20 and March 3. This will be the second lock-down drill of the year. This round of drills will be “unannounced” to the students and staff. Recognizing that each school and its emergency plans and student needs differ, it is up to the discretion of the school’s administrators who will know about the drill in advance, as well as how much advance notice will be given regarding date and time. Our school, Sherwood High School will be having our lockdown drill between February 20 and March 3. During the lock-down drill, staff and students are secured within their individual classrooms/offices and there is no movement in the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed. The lock-down drills provide valuable feedback for the District’s Emergency Preparedness Committee. Sherwood Police will also be invited to provide feedback during the drills. Math Curriculum Preview Night The Secondary Math Adoption Committee, which includes all secondary math teachers, voted unanimously to recommend the adoption of College Preparatory Mathematics (CPM) for the middle and high schools. For any senior headed to PCC, SHS will be hosting a PCC College Application event all day on Tuesday, February 28th in the Media Center. If you are interested in attending, please sign up in the counseling center with Mrs. Barton. 3rd Annual Military Night The Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, Army, Marines, Oregon Army National Guard and the Oregon Air National Guard will be here Tuesday, March 7th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, in the Commons. ACT Prep There will be an ACT test prep course offered at SHS on Saturdays, March 11th, 18th and April 1st, 8th and 15th from 8:00 - 10:00 am. Students will review Math and English skills with the help of a guide book printed by Cambridge. The class will be held in Room #E-8 and the cost is $175.
