pictorial representations into your teaching of problem solving. Model drawing, also known as bar or tape diagrams, provides a bridge between concrete and abstract thinking. This active and lively workshop will provide strategies to teach this powerful problem-solving method and will to grapple with and discuss problems. The relationship between model drawing and algebra will also be examined.

Presenter: Dr. Richard Bisk, a retired Professor of Mathematics from Worcester State University, works extensively with K–12 teachers and students. He has taught numerous workshops and courses that focus on helping teachers increase their mathematical understanding. Since 2000, Dr. Bisk has given presentations on the content and methodology behind the Singapore approach at local, national and international conferences.
