KEY ACTION STEPS

Vision: Long Reach High School is a diverse community where students, teachers, parents and administrators work together to provide a positive learning environment rich with opportunities for academic excellence and community involvement. Mission: The mission of Long Reach High School is to prepare all students with the academic, social, and technological skills necessary to succeed in a diverse and rapidly changing world.

RIGOR ACTION STEPS: 1. Improve vertical articulation process between middle schools and LRHS. 2. Targeted interventions for struggling students identified by teachers and GPA. 3. Use multiple measures (grades, test scores, teacher recommendation) to identify students from under-represented groups who should be moved to Honors and GT/AP courses. 4. Increase administrative and peer visits to classrooms to collect data on the types of questions teachers and students ask, and to create targeted professional development. 5. Teachers attend monthly differentiated professional learning informed by information from observations.

RIGOR: Increase the participation of students in AP courses & continue to improve Question and Discussion practices in instruction. PERFORMANCE: Increase the number of students scoring 1650 or higher on the SAT. STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: Increase student engagement measured by the Gallup Student Poll & continue to promote positive interactions between staff & students. STAFF ENGAGEMENT: Increase staff engagement measured by the Gallup Employee Poll. .

PERFORMANCE ACTION STEPS: 1. Implement program to increase registrations for SAT by identifying and encouraging students to take the test at the appropriate time. 2. Discussion of SAT preparation with students in every math course. 3. Staff development on redesigned SAT and inclusion of appropriate activities in math/English classes. STUDENT ENGAGEMENT ACTION STEPS: 1. Implement Restorative Practices program. 2. Revisit PBIS standards/practices with multiple stakeholders and revamp if necessary. 3. Revisit and implement a flowchart of intervention procedures, and responsibilities of intervention staff/administrators STAFF ENGAGEMENT ACTION STEPS: 1. Develop staff recognition program by soliciting feedback about how staff prefer to be recognized, sharing trends with school stakeholders, and implementing differentiated recognition.. 2. Create a process for identifying and coaching staff strengths in order to build leadership capacity and staff engagment at Long Reach.
