St. John’s Eaglet Need Some Quiet Time? Take some time to escape from the business of your life and try a retreat at The Sisterhood of St. John the Divine (www.ssjd.ca). The Spiritual Development Committee is organizing trip to “A Taizé Retreat: The Lord is my Light” Feb 28 – Mar 2. This retreat consists of prayer services and music in the Taizé style and brief talks on the theme of “Preparing for Lent”. The SSJD Guest House is a place of silence during the retreat. Participants are invited to join the Sisters for chapel services, meals are eaten in silence and there will be time for personal reflection, reading, walking and prayer. Fee: $250; deposit: $50. February 2014 Tons of Help Needed

The Treasure Trove will reopen in March and is in desperate need for some men (or strong women!) to help out with their muscle! The treasure trove receives literally tonnes of clothing every year. In 2012, the Treasure Trove raised over $45,000 and donated over 115,000 pounds of clothing to the Diabetes Clothesline program. It literally takes a small army for this ministry to properly function and Bev and company could use any and all help to continue the work of the Treasure Trove. Please give some careful consideration to helping out and if you are willing and able, please give Bev a call at 905-885-5376 or contact Laurie at the church office.

Lenten Day and Bible Fair Our annual Lenten Day will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The guest speaker for the day will be BISHOP GEORGE ELLIOTT. He is a dynamic speaker and we are so happy that he is coming. The day includes worship, talks and a soup luncheon. We are also holding a Bible Book Fair during lunch. Tokens of Trust Father Jesse will be holding a Lenten study titled TOKEN OF TRUST .It will be held on March 12, and 26, as well as April 2 and 9. You will need to sign up for this study by February 23 as books need to ordered in for this study. The study will be held from 7:30 - 9:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
