Social Work B.S.W. Transfer Guide: Leech Lake Tribal College The Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) degree prepares students for generalist practice in a variety of human service settings. Graduates are prepared to do a variety of professional social work jobs including counselor, substance abuse/mental health, child welfare and school social work. The curriculum has a special focus on services to American Indians and their communities. The skills students learn are transferrable when working with a variety of different groups and settings.

This program is partially online. The University of MN Duluth does not offer a wide variety of online courses, therefore a student must commit to completing the majority of liberal education requirements and non-social work electives on campus. Social work upper division core classes are hybrid including both online and on campus commitment.
Accreditation The external accrediting agency is the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Transfer Guidelines for Admission Requirements Note: Social Work majors apply early in the spring semester for admission into social work upper division coursework for the following fall semester.
Completion of at least 30 credits Overall GPA of at least a 2.5 Students must have completed the following LLTC courses prior to admission to program o PSYC 101: General Psychology o SOC 101: Introduction to Sociology o PSY 140: Developmental Psychology o ENG 102: English Composition II Students must also provide evidence of engagement in community service or volunteer work
Note: Transfer students will be required to enroll in SW 1000: Introduction to Social Welfare during their first semester of the BSW program. This course may be an on-campus class.
