Soft Release of Nano Fury 2 USB Miners – 5 Gh/s – Dual Bitfury Chip Miners
Specs and Info: Each miner contains two Bitfury (Rev.1) ASIC chips. NF2 requires BfgMiner 3.10.0 or later. http://luke.dashjr.org/programs/bitcoin/files/bfgminer/
Speeds per bits: 50 bits – 3.7-4.1 Gh/s, 53-55 bits – 4.7-5.4 Gh/s - chip dependent +/- 7% due to variation in chips 3.7-4.1 Gh/s requires 1A, which is a bit above stock USB3 which should provide 0.9A. (To use on a stock USB3-powered port you need to underclock the device and lower the osc6 bits to 47 which will result in a bit lower hash rate) 5 Gh/s requires 1.5-1.8A per device. As with the original Nano Fury there are no additional drivers needed for most computers. WARNING – While these miners may be capable of exceeding 5 Gh/s they have not been tested beyond the 55 bit settings. Running at higher bits may damage the miner and doing so voids any warranty. Soft release is due to limited documentation for inexperienced miners and limited shipping the week of 3/17/2014. No shipping on Wednesday 3/19 or Thursday 3/20 and limited shipping on Friday 3/21.

Start-up Instructions: Required – due to limited testing at this point you really need to have air movement on the miners. A USB fan is fine. The heat sinks do a great job but two chip put off a lot of heat. In testing with a standard USB fan the miners are cool enough to handle even after running at 5 Gh/s. But without a fan they may fail. No additional drivers are required to be loaded. 1. Start your computer

Extract the files to the desired folder. Insert NF2 Miner in USB (Computer or capable Hub) Turn on a fan of some kind so there is air movement on the miner. A USB fan is fine. Let the computer load settings and/or drivers if necessary. Open up printers and devices. Down at the bottom you should see the miner listed as Nano Fury NF2 v0.5 by MLM (Moonlight Miner). 8. Start BfgMiner and input your pool URL, Worker and Password. 9. IMPORTANT* – Let the miner run for 3-5 minutes to warm up. Unlike, NF1, this miner requires that amount of time calibrate, warm up and steadily submit shares. During this time, the miner hash will be between 3.5-4.1 gh/s. This is normal. 10. After the NF2 has warmed up, you can increase the speed to 5 Gh/s. In BfgMiner, hit “M” for Manage Devices. Select “O” for Oscillator Bits and increase bits on chip “a” from 50 to 53. Hit the down arrow to then adjust chip “b” from 50 to 53 bits. 11. Let the miner run for 3 more minutes while it adjusts to the increased speed. 12. IMPORTANT – The two chips will show different speeds. In this design chip “b” sends it’s communication through chip “a” therefore it will initially show a slower speed due to a tiny communications delay compared to chip “a.” So when tuning chips it is generally better to start by increasing the bits in chip “a.” Another rule of thumb is that it’s preferable to increase the speed (power) on a faster chip than a slower chip to reach 5 Gh/s. The faster one is often more capable and efficient at the higher core speeds than the slower chip would be. 13. After 3 minutes if the speed is not up to 4.7-5.0 gh/s, then go back in to Manage Devices (“M”) and check the gh/s for each chip by using the up and down arrow keys. Increase the bits to 54 or 55 such that you reach a combined speed of 4.7-5.4 Gh/s. Be sure to watch whether you are on chip “a” or chip “b” when adjusting speed. Due to the differences in each chip you may reach the limits at different speeds, and most chips would reach and exceed 4.7GH/s. After you do major speed adjustments it would be convenient if you reset the stats ([D]isplay -> [Z]ero stats) so that you can easily spot if a given chip is hitting the limits. If you see a chip getting over 5% errors that's a sign that you're probably at or around the limits - next steps you can try are additional cooling and/or lowering the speed".
DO NOT EXCEED 55 BITS PER CHIP. TESTING HAS NOT BEEN DONE ABOVE 55 AND YOU COULD DAMAGE THE MINER.
Support: We have not tested any hubs conclusively at this point but believe the voltage and amp capacity to be the only limiting factors. [email protected] NOTES: * In reality it has to do with how BfgMiner resets and initializes the chip. Alternatively you can force-update the chip settings by setting the osc6 bits. Doing so also takes care of the initial waiting. Sometimes that initial waiting takes just seconds, sometimes it's over a minute - if you don't want to wait you can just set again the osc6 bits and that fixes it too.
