Solid Waste Facility User Rules, Regulations, Fines and Special Charges Adopted by the EHT Board on November 10, 2003 for the Eagle Harbor Township Sanitary Pick Up Station & Compost Site Facility: 1. Only paid up Township users are authorized to use the facility. This includes a contractor (paid hauler) acting on behalf of a designated authorized Township user who meets the charge and notice requirements of these rules and regulations. 2. Hours: Summer Hours: Weds. 10-12, Sat. 9-12, Sun. 3-5 Winter Hours: Sat. 10-12 3. No dumping of unauthorized non-household trash including construction materials, metal, large glass, tires, furniture, batteries, blinds, pipes, hazardous materials or carpets is permitted. 4. Persons and/or entities who violate the following misdemeanor civil offenses are subject to the fines listed below: a. Leaving authorized trash in improper locations (not in proper containers/places) is subject to a $100 fine. b. Leaving unauthorized trash, or unauthorized use of the facility, is unauthorized dumping and is subject to a $500 fine. 5. Fines will be enforced by the KEWEENAW COUNTY SHERIFF 6. Bulk amounts (over one 30 gallon bag size) of combustible compost materials such as Trees, Grass and/or Shrubs can only be left on designated site piles, not in the compactor, and only if there is enough room at the brush site. a. There will be no special charge imposed for the user who drives a pick up or trailer (of 5x9 foot size or smaller) for drop off. Larger vehicles will be subject to contractor charges which will also be eligible for first charge fee waivers as under b. below. b. A contractor is defined as a paid hauler and is subject to special charges per load. A contractor must make arrangements (notify the Township Office, 289-4407) for payment and drop off ahead of the time they plan to use the facility. Failure to do so is subject to the special load charges and a $500 unauthorized use fine. i. Charges for each dump truck load will be $50 and for each pickup load or each trailer load (5x9 feet or smaller) will be $25. ii. The first $50 Contractor charge per paid up user per year will be waived if the Township office (289-4407) is notified before the time of use. 7. Only paper products can be placed into the incinerator. 8. The Facility will try to keep current information available about alternative drop off sites for recycling and/or materials not acceptable at the Township Facility. 9. The Facility may host a general junk pick up day periodically under Township authorization and direction, subject to the special charges and conditions set by the Township Board for that purpose.
