Ma.hew 5:43-48; Roman 8:31-39

The Color ! 1. Technical significance: a. Red is a primary color; which means it cannot be made by mixing other colors together. b. Red is the longest light waves that can be perceived by the unaided human eye.

3. Jesus’ humble love is seen through His forgiveness of the unforgivable. Mat 5:43-48; Luke 23:34 Luke 23:34, “And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

4. In giving hope to the hopeless, Jesus showed His love. Luke 23:42-43 Luke 23:42-43, “And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
[43] And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

5. Through His ulNmate selflessness, the love of Christ is revealed.
John 15:13-14; Rom 5:6,8,10; 1Pe 3:18; 1Th 5:9-10; 2Co 5:14-15 John 15:13-14, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. [14] You are my friends if you do what I command you.”

Mark 12:31, “The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Rom 5:20, “...where sin increased, grace abounded all the more”

“No ma.er how deep a person has fallen into sin, or how seriously they’ve been hurt, God’s love goes beyond that.”

! DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

SPECTRUM of the LIGHT (part 2)

1. God’s Love is o^en mischaracterized by believers and unbelievers alike. What are some incorrect statements you’ve heard about God’s Love and why are those claims in error? 2. One way we demonstrate the Love of Christ is in forgiving others. What is forgiveness and what are some things o^en thought of as parts of forgiveness but aren’t? Is it easier to forgive when we know what forgiveness actually is? And what about Mabhew 18 and its limitaNons and context? 3. Another way to show God’s Love to others is to offer hope to those without hope. How do you know when someone has “reached the end of their rope”? How might someone respond to such an offer if they aren’t (or don’t believe) they are without hope? 4. As His redeemed, there is nothing we can do to cause God to love us more, or anything to do to cause Him to love us less. Do you believe that? Why or why not? Why is it important to believe this?
