The significant terms of the contract are: 1. A start date of May 23, 2016 with five (5) days of transitional work between May 23 and June 30, 2016. 2. Full assumption of the superintendency on July 1, 2016, continuing for three years through June 30, 2019. 3. A base salary of $250,000 and a payment into a tax-sheltered annuity of $5,625 per school year. 4. Benefits consistent with those provided to other District office level administrators, including payment of contributions to the Teachers’ Retirement System. 5. Six performance goals addressing student and staff achievement, the final health of the School District and the transparent operations of the School District. I would like to share with you a summary of Dr. Isoye’s credentials: 1. Dr. Isoye is currently superintendent of Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200, a position he has held since 2010. From 2007 to 2010, Dr. Isoye was principal of Maine East High School in Park Ridge; during that time, he was named 2010-2011 Illinois High School Principal of the Year by the Horace Mann/Illinois Principals Association. 2. Before his leadership at Main East, Dr. Isoye was principal of Warren Township High School’s freshman-sophomore campus in Gurnee, where he also served as head of the Division of Science, Industrial Technology, and Family and Consumer Sciences from 2000 to 2003. While at Highland Park High School from 1997 to 2000, he was science Minutes of the Special Board Meeting of May 19, 2016

department chair. In 1998, he was named the Illinois State Teacher of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education and received the Milken Educator Award. Before taking on administrative leadership roles, Dr. Isoye taught science at Deerfield High School, The Latin School in Chicago and Loyola Academy in Wilmette. He has also been a member of the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Math and Science Academy since 1998. 3. Dr. Isoye has two doctorate degrees (educational administration and science), two master’s degrees (education and curriculum/instruction) and a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude (biology/chemistry). Finally, it is important to recognize that the Board’s decision was heavily influenced by the comments provided by school and community members who participated in focus groups early in the selection process to share their opinions and suggestions on what traits they desired in a new superintendent. An online survey for the search was completed by 590 students, parents, teachers, staff members, administrators and community members. Once the candidate field was narrowed to three finalists, three different groups interviewed the finalists: one made up of students and parents, one of teachers and support staff members, and one of administrators. All three were then interviewed by the Board before the Board chose Dr. Isoye. The Board really appreciates the time and energy of all the people in our schools and community who participated in the process. Their input played a critical part in our decision-making. It was moved by LAMPERT and seconded by KO and seconded to approve the May 23, 2016 through June 30, 2019 Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract between the Board of Education and Dr. Steven Isoye, substantially in the form signed by Dr. Isoye and presented by the Board President and to authorize the President and Secretary to sign the contract on behalf of the Board. A roll call vote was taken. Voting Aye: Klint, Ko, Lampert, Nowik, Sproat. The motion carried. It was moved by KO and seconded by NOWIK to adjourn the meeting. A roll call vote was taken.
