Sports Medicine
The Sports Medicine program will introduce students to career fields in health care including athletic training, rehabilitation, kinesiology, and wellness-oriented professions. Therapists and those in sports medicine help patients of all ages who have had an accident or who have disabling conditions improve mobility, relieve pain, and limit permanent physical disabilities. Some specialize in the area of sports and work to enhance the training and performance of athletes.
Physical therapists develop plans using treatment techniques to promote healthy
movement, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
Interventions may include
therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy techniques, assistive and adaptive devices and equipment, and physical agents and electrotherapeutic modalities. Sports medicine specialists develop fitness and wellness programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Physical therapist assistants work under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. All are very rewarding health care professions. Program Courses: •
