Spot Discovers Baths By: Caroline McClelland & Ashley DeDeaux Illustrated by: Caroline McClelland Once there was a dog-named Spot. Spot just like any other dog loved to play outside and in the dirt. He would always come home at the end of the day covered in dirt from head to toe. Spot’s owner Jim loved him very much, but there was one problem. Spot refused to take baths! Anytime Jim would try to give Spot a bath, the sound of the hose or tub running would scare Spot. Spot was a big dog and Jim didn’t know what to do. He had to start giving Spot a bath or all his furniture would be ruined! Jim would beg Spot to take a bath, but Spot always refused. One day when Spot was out playing in the mud something unusual happened. It started to rain. Spot had never experienced rain before. At first he was hesitant, but then he loved it! Spot started playing in the puddles and making big splashes. When Spot came home from playing in the rain, Jim was shocked! Spot was now spotless and a clean dog! From then on Spot found his love for baths and water in general. Even though spot still loved the mud his favorite part of the day was coming back and getting a bath from Jim! Spot realized that just because he had never had a bath before didn’t mean he should be scared or not like something! Now Spot was a clean dog with a happy owner.
