Atlantic Stewardship Bank is ‘faithful’ to the community Having served northern New Jersey towns for more than 30 years, Atlantic Stewardship Bank (ASB) is excited to be a part of the Morristown Community. ASB’s new Morristown location at 43 South Park Place on the Green is scheduled to open in late spring, and joins Montville and Pequannock as its third Morris County branch. When you walk through the doors of ASB, you get the feeling that it is a different kind of bank, especially when you thank the people who work there for a great experience and they humbly reply, “It’s what we do.” As a unique kind of commercial bank — one that gives back to the community as part of its core values and Christian mission — ASB is truly an extraordinary financial institution. ASB “tithes,” or shares 10 percent of its taxable income, with

Christian and other local charities each year. Living up to the bank’s promise of being “faithful to our customers,” Paul Van Ostenbridge, president and CEO of ASB, said, “We have decided that the best way to let people know that they can rely on us is to always be personally faithful to their needs.” As a result, ASB has been selected as a Champion of Good Works by the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey for the past two years. ASB takes this responsibility with the utmost sincerity, and works diligently to provide a solid return to customers while safeguarding their funds. As a result, the bank has been able to give more than $9 million to nonprofit organizations since its inception. ASB also offers a great line of lending solutions designed to

assist both business and personal customers in northern New Jersey and the surrounding markets. ASB’s lenders understand that one size does not fit all, and they are committed to delivering on every promise. Information about consumer products such as mortgages and home equity and auto loans is readily available, as is information about business products such as commercial loans and ASB’s Express Loan Approval process — all can be found on the bank’s website or by speaking with a bank representative. Perhaps the most important differentiator ASB offers is localized decision-making, which can really speed up the lending process. Additionally, customers are provided with many ways in which to access their accounts, in addition to stopping by their newest location. ASB offers online banking, mobile banking, ATMs and the ASB App. Most recently, the bank added some of the newest technological features, including the Apple Watch App and Apple Pay. “We hope you find Atlantic Stewardship Bank, its commitment to service and our unique Tithing Program to be of interest. We welcome the opportunity to be of service to you; for as the bank grows, so does our ability to help others,” Van Ostenbridge said. ASB maintains its headquarters at 630 Godwin Ave., Midland Park. The bank’s 12 branches are in Bergen, Morris and Passaic counties. For more information about locations and hours, visit ASB’s website at ASBnow.com. n

For multiple generations of the Haley family, the Morristown Country Mile has been good for business In a day and age when Mom and Pop stores are disappearing from the retail landscape, one local family-owned business continues to grow. The Depot Gift Shop, a long-standing favorite along Morristown’s Country Mile, 5 miles south of the Morristown Green in Harding Township, has been owned by multiple generations of the Haley family. Its continued success can be attributed to its apparent bridge between the past and future. Purchased in 1978 by Sally and Bucky Haley, the store was a staple for local residents needing candles and stationery. The Haleys grew it into a thriving business featuring home decor, housewarming and hostess gifts, and other niche offerings not easily found elsewhere. The family then expanded its gift business into the baby world, launching Baby Crossing in 1999, which carries clothing and gifts for newborns up to 24 months. To keep up with the demands of expectant parents and a booming industry, Baby Crossing also recently launched a new website and is developing an online registry for parents-to-be. Baby Crossing carries clothing and gifts for newborns up to 24 months. Following in 2002, was the opening of Paradise, a women’s clothing store, featuring sunny and bright resort wear from Lilly Pulitzer, a mile down Route 202. Dreams came true for current owners and Morristown residents, Shelly and Paul Haley, when they were able to purchase the landmark building at 980 Mt. Kemble Ave. last December. “We had this incredible opportunity to take the rich history of The Depot and build on it for the next generation,” said Shelly Haley, who runs day-to-day operations of all three stores, while husband Paul oversees their popular restaurant, End of Elm, located

in the heart of downtown Morristown, steps away from the train station. With Shelly’s vision of creating the ultimate shopping destination for their customers, renovations began. Soon thereafter, Paradise joined sister shops, Baby Crossing and The Depot, under the same roof. The result? A familial atmosphere, where customers and store employees sound more like old friends. Products that blend tradition and trend for the perfect assortment covering virtually any need, and a beautiful structure Items for the home can be found at The Depot Gift Shop. that embraces its long history but with a crisp and modern veneer. The Haleys know their store is unique. According to Shelly, “we have young families who have just moved into the area from Manhattan alongside longtime residents who have been shopping here for as long as they can remember. We’re so fortunate that they come back to us time and time again.” The Haleys have a knack for bringing people together. Taking from their restaurant acumen, now not only do customers shop, they pop in to grab a coffee and check out the new products that have arrived the night before. Also popular is the recently promoted, weekly “Champagne Fridays,” where the predominantly female clientele join to catch up and kick off the weekend. At first glance, The Depot might seem like a moment preserved in time, but a closer look clearly shows how this thriving business Paradise, a women’s clothing store, features resort wear from Lilly Pulitzer. has managed to stay in touch with its customers and has continued to be a cornerstone of the Morristown Country Mile community. n
