The University of Michigan, School of Public Health, Summer Session in Epidemiology (SSE) is accepting applications for funds made available from the Rackham Graduate School to encourage and support doctoral students from the University of Michigan to attend the 2017 SSE program. Funds will be awarded for enrollment in one course as “non-credit” status in the 2017 SSE. When enrolling in the program as “non-credit,” students are expected to participate fully and complete all course exercises. Letter grades are not issued and enrollment will not appear on your UM transcript. A certificate of participation will be issued from the SSE. The curriculum includes two, three-week courses covering basic epidemiology and biostatistics (Epid 701 and Epid 709) and 24 one-week offerings covering the topics in epidemiology, biostatistics, data management and public health practice. The full list of courses and details can be viewed here. Funding Model: Rackham funds will cover the $50.00 application fee and 50% of the non-credit course cost. The SSE will cover the remaining 50% of the non-credit course cost. Criteria for Selection: Applicants for this funding will be reviewed from the academic statement provided on the following Application Form. Please provide your academic and/or career reasons for your desire to take a course in the SSE. These awards are being provided expand the knowledge and awareness of public health and to enhance future careers in public health and related disciplines. Qualifications for Consideration: 1. The student is in good academic standing and active in a Rackham doctoral degree granting program 2. Enrolled graduate-level student at the University of Michigan 3. Meets adequate background to fulfill any prerequisites for course being requested *These funds do not apply to University of Michigan Epidemiology students as there is a separate funding opportunity in place for Epidemiology students only.
