Bland Elementary wins 5th place at U. I. L Christmas Party

We all had fun celebrating Christmas with our classmates and those parents that came. I hope you all have a merry Christmas, and try to stay safe while driving to see family members. Once again, thank you, parents, for everything you’ve done so that we could have amazing Christmas parties.

On the first day, students competed in speaking events and on the second day, students competed in all other events. Everyone that competed gave their best and did an amazing job. Bland Elementary placed 5th.

We want to say a special thank you to all our teachers for coaching the various events and to Mrs. Curry who was in charge of organizing both the Elementary and the Middle School schedules.

The Bland ISD Food Drive was a SUCCESS!!! By: Alexis DanBland ISD held a food drive November 10-14, 2014. Students and teachers collected 1,121 cans of food. The drive benefited 6 local families and a total of 17 students.

Mrs. Jenkins’ 4th grade class won the prize for collecting the largest amount of cans: 276. They celebrated with a pizza party!

We would like to thank Jill Spear, Mindi Cato, and Christy Blackburn for heading this up, as well as those who participated! It was a wonderful success! We hope to have a food drive just as good or better next year!

The High School Yearbook Staff Visits the Elementary By William Molck The High School yearbook staff visited the Elementary campus and held a Super hero themed photo shoot. The elementary students were asked to select a superhero, a super power, and a weakness. Once this had been done, the staff snapped pic-

Christmas Program by Katlyn Brown, Lilli Skellen, and Kayleigh Gentry The song Dominick the Donkey was the funniest song ever made for Christmas. It stands out from all the other. We saw a donkey during Dominick the Donkey. They also sang “I Saw Elvis Dressed as Santa Claus”. It was funny, and the dances were good. Someone dressed as Elvis gave toilet paper to people like Mrs. Blankenship. They also sang Holy Night. It was just beautiful. It would make you sleepy. We had dreams about Dominick the Donkey. At the end, all of us sang the Bland School Song.

GT/Principal’s Honor Roll Field Trip to the Perot Museum by Ally D’Amico and Avery Glover All GT and top GPA students went to the Perot Museum on December 11, 2014. We saw sports exhibits in one room. It had a race where you could compete against fast runners on a screen. We listened to an lady explain how exercise is good and keeps your body healthy. There were also lots of gems of different colors. There was one that looked like snow. We also saw lots of dinosaur fossils.

There was a Lego station to build pulley systems, pliers, and other machines using Legos of all kinds and colors. Some of us got to look at cheek cells under a powerful microscope. We got to wear lab coats and goggles. We could zoom in on the cells and see the nucleus. It was fun because we saw all kinds of interesting stuff such as big frogs and a planet room.
