Project Variables: The weather was great day one and slightly colder day two. One lift did run day one, which hampered the course set and warm up as athletes had to start at Pickpole. The plan was have them warm up below as we set from above. Mike Savage set both days mostly 40 meters and then running straight into kangaroo. Sets were good both days and consistent to allow athletes to develop. Sugarloaf may be a bit of a way to travel but the value in getting kids access to this hill is great. They are going to have to compete here sooner rather than later. Jim McCormack and Laurel Lashar are easy and professional and make running a project here great. The support with the timing and hill prep is crucial to making the athlete experience first class. The surface was very good grippy, the jump was good size might need to shave the landing a bit. Surface, weather, travel, course sets, general commentary on the quality of the variables Sam Morse USST joined us for the first day and moved around the athlete groups which was fantastic Project Objectives:
1. To provide SG training in the most focused, professional and competitive environment possible. Achieved: Jim McCormack and his staff had the hill very well prepared. We came in right after a SG Series and things were ready to go. We had enough staff to run all the athletes groups and also control the hill setting up a secure venue. 2. Utilizing peer group pace, creating challenge with course set and terrain, with the added value of training with different athletes and coaches from around the region. 3. Explore higher volumes of training and push the intensity using a combination of multi-station, short and full-length course formats with jump and terrain.
4. Assist in developing the athlete’s kinesthetic awareness with directed free skiing. Key focus placed on lower leg activation and ankle articulation. 5. Improve the athlete’s overall awareness and ability to self-coach in SG. 6. Create opportunity for head to head (H2H) competition on a Regional level. 7. These is a measureable objectives. Not achieved: or Achieved: Explain what aided or prevented the achievement of these goals.
Future Considerations: 1. These are considerations for the following season’s project. Final Comments: These are final comments about the projects. Coaches Name Date
