Each Social Business Trainer will work directly with 2-3 social entrepreneurs, taking them through a four-week intensive accelerator, followed by four weeks of testing in the field, and then two weeks refining the model before pitching to investors. This position is based in Port au Prince, Haiti from June to October 2015 (though dates are flexible – please state your availability in your application). Applications will close on May 7th, however we will interview on a rolling basis and the position may be filled before then so we encourage applicants to apply early to avoid disappointment. This volunteer position is unpaid but accommodation and flights will be provided. A background in business management, or finance is desired. Fluency in English and French are required, and Haitian Creole is highly desirable. What the position offers you: • Chance to work closely with the most exciting social entrepreneurs in Haiti, creating employment and building the local economy, alongside a team of highly skilled local and international mentors and consultants • Opportunity to gain experience suited for launching/building a career in entrepreneurship, business management, impact investing, private equity, investment banking, venture capital and management consultancy • Opportunity to learn from YSB Haiti’s extensive network of experts, entrepreneurs and mentors. • Opportunity to build a network of professional relationships across Haiti’s government and business community • Chance to turn the position in to a permanent paid position at the end of the volunteership, dependent on performance and requirements

Who we are: A social business is a new kind of organization that combines the strengths of both civil society and the business world. Social businesses have a social or environmental mission – like NGOs – but are financially self-sustainable – like businesses. Social business is a combination of social action with entrepreneurship and market discipline. YSB Haiti has been operating in Haiti for four years. We offer both coaching and support to social business entrepreneurs, and access to financing through our social venture capital fund. We currently have a portfolio of 10 social businesses in Haiti, across agriculture, manufacturing, clean energy and retail.

What you will be doing: Reporting to the Country Director, you will be responsible for coaching 2-3 social businesses through the accelerator programme: • These entrepreneurs will have succeeded in getting through a competitive applications process and will be part of a team of 15 which participate in the social business accelerator • The accelerator has been designed in conjunction with YSB Global’s worldwide experience, and aims to provide intensive training on all elements of running and scaling social business in Haiti For the first four weeks of the accelerator programme, trainers will participate in and help to deliver workshops for the whole group of accelerator participants, as well as delivering one-to-one training sessions with 2-3 social business entrepreneurs on their business model. Trainers will also work with Haitian and international experts and mentors in designing the best package of support for each entrepreneur. Following this, trainers will support their entrepreneurs throughout a four-week testing phase, travelling around the country as required to support entrepreneurs on site, before spending two weeks refining the idea and helping prepare the entrepreneur to pitch to investors. • Finally,  trainers will then work with YSB’s Haiti based and global Investment Committee to conduct a final Due Diligence on those enterprises which YSB is considering investing in. • Other duties and responsibilities, as required, to help ensure that the YSB Haiti Accelerator is a success.
