whites. Crappie fishing is generally good during June, fishing minnows in the mouths of the coves in the morning and evening. Good strings of crappie are
now being taken along the bluffs at night, fishing under lanterns. Trolling is coming into its own at this time with duck-billed lures such as Hellbender, Bomber and Martin Lizard taking those large walleye. Bluegill are schooled up by now and provide some of the hardest fighting per ounce of weight of any fish . These scrappers can challenge any angler using flyrod or light spinning gear at

The Ozark hills surrounding the lake make it possible for you to find a place to fish away from the wind almost any day. The lake does not freeze over, even
during the coldest weather. There are days when insulated clothes, boots and hand warmers are welcome, but also there are many sunny days when the top
layer of clothing will have to be removed before noon. JANUARY AND FEBRUARY are good months to catch that lunker or trophy largemouth bass. Jig and eel, single spin or twin spin and eel worked very slowly .

APRIL finds the water warming rapidly and the fishing good. Crappie are hitting good on both jigs and minnows. Walleye and white bass have moved upstream to spawn or are leisurely working their way back down. In either case,
small jigs worked around the rocks and brush will produce good catches. Trolling duck-billed plugs with a spinner or jig trailing will take some of the hardest hitting, longest fighting, tackle busters you can imagine. Largemouth and Ken-
tucky bass usually start hitting topwater lures by the last of April. MAY is usually considered the best month to take qld man bass on topwater. White bass are generally deeper at this time and can be taken by trolling or will take minnows at night, fishing under lanterns. Crappie fishing has reached a peak, where seeing large strings of large crappie is routine. Walleye have returned to their favorite haunts after spawning. Casting jigs or trolling over

JULY AND AUGUST are the best months for taking walleye on deep running lures, trolled along the gravel banks and gravel points. White bass can also be taken trolling these same lures. Plastic worms fished on rocky points and ledges
are considered best lures for Kentucky and largemouth bass during July. Live crawfish used on the rocky points are a sure bet to take Mr. Kentucky Bass. Moonlight nights will see a number of fishermen taking advantage of the cool nights to work plastic worms on the points and along the bluffs. This accounts for most of the larger trophy bass at this time of ye.r. Lanterns can be seen bobbing as the boats rock to give that minnow that action so irresistable to the crappie and white bass. Trotlines and limblines remain good during July. SEPTEMBER'S shorter days and cooler nights are starting to cool the water and increase the appetite and feeding periods of both the Kentucky and largemouth bass. Plastic worms are still taking good catches of bass. Crawfish remain a
favorite food for the Kentucky. Crappie are starting to feed more in the daytime at the mouths of the coves and at the edge of the timber. Channel cat are still taken on trotlines. OCTOBER usually finds the fish moving back into the coves. This brings a return to topwater activity as those lunkers start to move again. Daytime crappie fishing now shows a big improvement on both jigs and minnows. White bass can be found in deep water and will take minnows, fishing under lanterns. Occasion-
ally whites can be located and taken over flats in about 25 ft. of water. NOVEMBER finds the black bass chasing schools of shad on the surface. Spoons cast into these shad can produce strings of good size bass. Toward the end of
the month these bass will move into deep holes and along the bluffs and ledges. They have now become mean and hungry. Single spins. twin spins, and jig and
eel will now catch those slrings of picture taking bass. Small jigs fished around the timber near the bluffs will take good strings of crappie.

After leaving Cassville take Highway 112 s?uth to Roaring River State Pa~t where you can enjoy trout fishing. horseback riding, miniature
golf and nature trails. After leaving the Park take Highway F east to 86 then southeast to Highway P and Arkansas 23 to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the "Little Switzerland of the Ozarks"_ When leaving Eureka Springs take Highway 62 east to Berryville, Arkansas where you may be interested in the famous Saunders Museum. or 9-hole grass green golf course. Leave
Berryville on Arkansas Highway 21 and 221 north into Missouri Highway 39 to your starting point. 22
Leave Shell Knob-Viola Area south on Highway 39 to 86, thence east on 86 to 65. North on Highway 65 to School of the Ozarks, then continue north on 65 to 165, west on 165 to Table Rock State Park, Table Rock Dam and Trout Hatchery. North from dam on Highway 265 to Highway 76 which places you in the heart of the Shepherd of the Hills Country. Points of interest in this area includes Shepherd of the Hills Farm, Old Matt's Cabin, Uncle Ike's Post Office, Marvel Cave and Silver Dollar City. Continue west on Highway 76 to Highway 13, thence south on Highway 13 to Fairy Cave, then south to Kimberling City. Here you will find gift shops, novelty stores, etc. Leave Kimberling City south on Highway 13 to Highway 86 then west to Highway 39, then north back to your starting place. As an alternate route, when you reach the junction of Highways 76 and 13 stay on Highway 76 to Highway 39, then south to your original starting point. 23
