Drink lots of fluids - especially water; your instrument needs to stay “lubricated.” Eat healthful foods - your body needs to replenish itself with things. Get plenty of rest - that’s when your body builds itself up. Cover up in cold weather - keep you head, chest, and throat areas covered in outdoor cold temperatures. Avoid excessive yelling, shouting, or screaming - that is abrasive to the vocal folds. Although sometimes it seems impossible, try to avoid excessive coughing and clearing your throat.
