Task 1b Forced Perspective For task 1b, we were asked to create Ideas, on how forced perspective could be used. The main concept of Forced Perspective photography, is to create an illusion to the audience of the photo, where objects either look smaller, or bigger, further away or closer than they usually would be in the case of reality.

In this image, you can see a person standing next to a shisha pipe, we all know, that in the most likely case, the shisha pipe is not taller than the actual person (and it’s not), so what has been created here is an optical illusion, which is distorting the actual size of the objects, or subjects in the image, another important factor about Forced Perspective, is that in the image, both the foreground, and background are focused at the same time, this has been done by using a smaller aperture, resulting in a bigger depth of field. In the same sense, we were asked to create Ideas, which show the use of forced perspective.

Here are a few of my ideas:
Here you can see, that I am attempting to make it look like, I am holding the clock in the City Centre of Bradford. Obviously my hand is of no comparison in size to a building, this is the whole point of Forced Perspective.

In this image, I am trying to make a person, in the grey sweater and the camera strapped onto him, look like he is standing on top of the silver post. The person is actually much bigger than the post, through Forced Perspective, images experience size distortion.

In this image, I am attempting to the image look like the subject, is holding onto the top of the phone booth. The subject is actually smaller than the phone booth, size distortion has occurred in this image because of the use of Forced Perspective.

In this image, I have make the image look like I am flicking the subjects away from a bench they are standing on. My hand is much smaller than any person, the size of objects or subjects, has been distorted through this image.

In this image, it looks like the sprite of water, is pushing out from the mouth of the subject, when it really isn’t. Distortion of the image has meant, that an illusion was the outcome through the image, which is extremely important in the use of Forced Perspective.
