Directional Ring S2: R second hitch, 5 dk, first hitch, leave a space of thread for a small picot, second hitch, first hitch, leave a space of thread for a small picot, second hitch, first hitch, leave a space of thread for a medium picot, second hitch, first hitch, leave a space of thread for a small picot, second hitch, first hitch, leave a space of thread for a small picot, second hitch, 5 dk, first hitch, bring shuttle two through the ring to the front of the work. Close ring. Turn work to face the right side of the lace. CHAIN TWO RDK/LHK: 10 knots Ring A-S1: R 6 dk +(j to last picot of ring A) 1 dk, mp, 1 dk - 6 dk. close ring.* Repeat in pattern tatting 6th ring A as follows: R 6 dk +(join to last picot of last ring A) 1 dk, mp, 1 dk +(j to first picot of first ring A tatted) 6 dk. close ring. End with last chain two. End off. Pull running thread through base of first ring A and first chain knot. Tie a square knot on the wrong side of the lace. Rethread ends through completed knots on the wrong side of the lace. WIND ONE SHUTTLE LEAVING BALL THREAD ATTACHED. ROUND TWO: Ring A: R 6 dk, sp, 1 dk, mp, 1 dk, sp, 6 dk. close ring. CHAIN ONE RDK/LHK: 6 knots. slip ball thread under previously tatted chain from round one, 6 knots, slip ball thread under next tatted chain from round one, 6 knots * Repeat around in pattern. End off. Pull running thread through space at base of ring A and first chain knot. Tie a square knot on the wrong side of the lace.
