Assamese Tattoo Designs Winning Hearts Of The Youngsters From the tribes of India to pop culture, tattoo art has today become a symbolism for personal life-stories, and style statements. From traditional designs to modern art, tattoos in the Northeastern region have come a long way.

Bhagyaraj, who was born and brought up in Guwahati has been associated with this art form since 2010, besides other conventional art forms. He started his journey with modern art forms, but gradually shifted his interest in inking designs that highlights the culture of Assam. I want to bring a shift to the entire outlook and ink designs that represent one’s traditions and roots,” says Bhagyaraj. Bhagyaraj started the fashion of Assamese tattoo back in 2015, when he inked the very famous one-horn rhino, which was very much appreciated by his clients. Following that, he has been making many such designs, such as Gamucha patterns, Assamese jewellery designs, symbolic art forms that represents the Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar etc, among his other noted artworks. For tattoo designs for females, he had taken inspiration from ethnic Assamese jewellery like Dhansira, Junbiri, and the rich orchid ‘Kopou’. On the otherhand, for the designs for the males, he has taken inspiration from Gamucha patterns to create armbands, rhinos in abstract and mechanical forms, scenes from Bihu as well as Tai Ahom festivals.
