Team BRIT Complete Oulton Park 4 Hour FunCup Race The final championship round of the 2017 FunCup UK headed to the twisting, turning and tortuous Oulton Park in Cheshire last weekend. The 4 hour race would be the last hurdle before Team BRIT had completed their first full season in FunCup UK, including competing in six 4 hour races and the Spa 25 Hours. Since the previous round the team competed in, 2 new drivers had been added to the team, bringing the total drivers in the team to 8. 3 drivers would make their debut appearance for the team here at Oulton Park - Jamie Falvey joined team veterans Warren McKinlay and Jimmy Hill in the 312 car, while Ash Hall and James Russell debuted alongside Andy Searle in the 158 car.

Fun Cup’s random grid draw saw car 312 and 158 starting in 24th and 30th respectively, so the last round would by no means be a walk in the park. The race got underway at just before 2:30pm, which meant the last portion of the race would be under darkness. At the start, both cars got away cleanly aside for some front splitter damage on the 312 car. The safety car was called out due to first lap mayhem, and this meant the 312 could pit for repairs while the field was neutralised. Both cars resumed on track near the back of the field but still

with over 3 and a half hours of running to go.

After 1 hour, the 312 and 158 cars were running 23rd and 28th respectively, having both made 2 pit stops, which were both very successful. Due to the number of braking zones at the technical Cheshire circuit, all cars had to make two 5 minute pit stops in order to check over brakes and replace any worn pads. With half the race gone, both cars continued to run reliably, car 312 continued to make up places thanks to a stellar drive from Team BRIT rookie Jamie Falvey which put the car into 21st place. Car 158 was also running smoothly, and was now driven by Invictus Games medallist Ash Hall. With just an hour to go, and the second of the 5 minute pit stops out the way, the cars proceeded to make progress. Car 312 was up to 17th place and car 158 was elevated to 27th following problems from a front running car. The race ended at just before 6:30 local time, and with headlights ablaze, the two cars crossed the line in 17th and 26th, their best result since last visiting the circuit in May. This means the team finish 27th and 34th in the standings in their first full year competing.
